an elegant summer scent robe
Oscar de la Renta: what a name!
As a young woman I was fascinated by its sound; a name that stood for extravagance and luxury to my German ears.
Only years later, when I read the relevant journals "Madame" and "Harper's Bazaar" (and at the hairdresser's also "Vogue"), I realized that this name also stood for lavish gowns, which could be seen on many red carpets and are still true "eye-catchers" today.
A dream of evening gowns, elegant as the smart gentleman who had conceived them to adorn women in the most beautiful way.
I made the acquaintance of his fragrances only now and here; they come, after all, from the heyday of perfume culture.
From the mid-seventies onwards, so many designer fragrances romped on the international stage, each of which had its "fragrance fan base".
"Oscar" as an eau de toilette has not lived with me for too long; this fragrance came in a surprise package packed for me by a dear perfumista I met here.
She knows how pleased I was.
I do like them a lot, those scent turned robes that decorate without much fanfare and make me feel so wonderfully well dressed and feminine.
On some occasions a light classy cut scent dress suits much better than a big flashy gown.
"Oscar" is a classic floral chypre, to which some kitchen spices and herbs were added right at the beginning. So even the pot of basil on the windowsill had to give up some leaves.
So spicy "aufgehübscht" come peach and bergamot equal much more briskly therefore.
The Chypre flowers jasmine, rose and iris get through lavender and rosemary an unexpected freshness kick, which makes "Oscar" high summer suitable!
Sunny yellow shine ylang-ylang and spicy broom; a tastefully composed bouquet of fragrances was created so.
Spicy-harzig shows up now also the base:
Here they are gathered, the classic fragrance notes that give depth and sensuality, that spread light erotic vibes without being clumsy or clearly obvious.
To list them all by name would surely be too boring; after all, any of us can read fragrance pyramids (wherever published).
Particularly worth mentioning here are the good dose of cloves, the touch of coconut sweetness and some additional lavender flowers, before amber lays its golden-resinous rays over the entire fragrance composition and ignites a final fireworks!
"Oscar" is a child of its time; a time that still feels simultaneously vibrant yet elegant on my skin without seeming stale or outdated.
A bit nostalgic I am also, when I am so reminded
What a life that was back then!
So "Oscar" as an Eau de Toilette is a wonderful fragrance robe for warm summer days, for a cozy cocktail hour at the end of the day and also always ready to still dance through a warm and romantic summer night!
This enchanting "fragrance all-rounder" accompanies me for many hours with consistent friendliness.
More than one, two sprays to refresh are not necessary!
This summer is just beginning, and I think I'm going to have another fun fragrant time with "Oscar".
Because one thing is for sure: this smart fragrance "Oscar" is always up for a flirt!
