Marzipan Extrême
Among drugstore fragrances, Otto Kern is considered one of the best brands. And the Signature line is doing quite well. It's time to take a closer look at one of the (very affordable) representatives.
Signature Extrême starts off very spicy and very sweet. I detect a strong marzipan-like note. Is that the nutmeg? Or is it supposed to be sage? The composition sometimes comes across as a bit strange. At times it is spicier, at times sweeter, sometimes it has this synthetic marzipan flair, then again it is cleaner and more inconspicuous.
As it develops, the synthetic marzipan fades and the fragrance notes tend to lean a bit towards "Noir Extreme (Eau de Parfum) | Tom Ford," but of course, it never reaches that level of quality. Nevertheless, Signature Extrême smells more expensive than it is.
The performance is also quite acceptable for the price: the sillage is perfectly fine and can be detected for about 6 hours before it becomes more intimate.
The bottle is not ordinary and is appealing, except for the cheap plastic in the middle. That could have been of a higher quality. But yes, the price. The spray head, however, is quite good.
The fragrance is suitable for dates and (casual) evening events.
