Is this Coty Prestige?
I am confused by Phaedon PLUIE DE SOLEIL, and if the provenance of my sample were not the dependable Guusjes, I'd suspect a decanting error. Why? Because this perfume is to my nose an average fruity-floral composition of the Coty Prestige kind. This could easily have been the juice inside one of the GMO-modified insect bottles from Marc Jacobs.

I confess to not being fond of pineapple and strawberry as perfume notes, and my understanding is that fruits are always synthetically mimicked, which implies that any creation this fruity is bound to have a synthetic cast. I'm sure that PLUIE DE SOLEIL would work for anyone who enjoys wearing mainstream designer fruit-heavy abstract fragrances. But why pay niche prices for this? Abstract freesia? Canned fruits in light syrup?

Needless to say: not for me.

------------------------------------------
January 19, 2015 update: I found another vial of this fragrance while moving. My opinion has not improved in the least. Could just as well be a Marc Jacobs flanker in a garish bottle. Désolée.

I am tossing the rest of this vial--a rarity, I assure you...

Fruity, juvenile and fleeting
I went to Perfumeria Impressium on my tour-de-Warsaw-perfumes, but I got there quite late, ten minutes before they were closing. I know myself how irritating it is to have customers just before closing hours, so I was frantically smelling and trying to decide which fragrance samples to purchase. Key word is "trying", because I had no clue which fragrances I ended up taking with me when walking out the store.
One of them was Pluie de Soleil by Phaedon, which was recommended to me by the seller. I don't know why, but after trying Lamar by Kajal I was on a pineapple mission! Mile High by Parle Moi de Parfum failed me, others I tried where too synthetic, but apparently Pluie de Soleil was acceptable since I got it. Who knows, I was in a frantic haze!
Pluie de Soleil is sweet and summery at the opening. No specific notes come to mind, however. The fragrance is fruity in a somewhat tropical way and I get a hint of something floral.
The notes in Pluie de Soleil are in fact pineapple, strawberry, Amalfi lemon, freesia, musk, sandalwood and bergamot. I get the mixture of pineapple and strawberry, but it is quite synthetic on my skin. After trying Lamar from Kajal, no pineapple seems to compare!
Pluie de Soleil is in quality more like a designer fragrance, if it stood next to Juicy Couture, I wouldn't be surprised.

The fragrance is also very fleeting on my skin. Three big sprays, but already after dry down, it is very hard to detect.

Fruity fragrances do not have to be juvenile, yet Pluie de Soleil is. Even after dry down, when the musk is more prevalent, the scent is an early twenties fragrance at best. What a shame. I love the bottle and the thought of a pineapple fragrance in my collection, but unfortunately Pluie de Soleil is a miss.

Must sample if you like fruity florals.
If you're going to wear a fruity floral, it might as well be this one.

For a fruity floral, Pluie de Soleil is GREAT. I primarily get strawberries, although there is a tad of pineapple lurking in the backgroud. All other accords are difficult to breakdown. Pluie de Soleil stays light & bright through 2 hours or so of wear. Then it descends into a typical woody-musky base.

Overall, Pluie de Soleil feels youthful, happy & sunny, just as a fragrance in this category should. It seems to contain high-quality ingredients. I am not irritated by the freesia, which I often get in mass market fragrances. Marked unisex but definitely on the femme side - there are not many men I know who would wear this.

Pluie de Soleil is not my cup of tea. In fact, during my sample, I also dabbed on the berry-rich Givenchy Hot Couture No 1 to compare. The Hot Couture is dark, moody & brooding by comparison, which I prefer and is apparently more my style, lol. Nevertheless, Pluie de Soleil definitely is a must-sample ... provided you like this category of fragrances.

Like it
This one was my first perfume. I smell rasberry and citrus and I like it, but it is not my own favourite.
If you like it, you maybe like carner barcelona Bo-Bo as well. I think it smells like a fruitbowl you eat for starter.

Style Questions
“The shops in Paris all have their own… style.” This was the observation my ten-year-old son made recently during our stay in Paris, his expression thoughtful as he struggled to find the right term. He undoubtedly meant that enviable sense of style that seems to be innate to the French (as well as the Italians).

The “style” of Phaedon is particularly quiet. A still-style or style. I wonder if I have encountered one that, let’s say… had a bit more guts. No, my previous test candidates were original (Cendres de Thé), cozy (Tabac Rouge), indecisive (Oliban/Grisens), fine (Sable Marocain), and nonexistent (Hesperys). Just don’t make a fuss, yes, better not to stand out.

Today’s candidate does not stray from the line. In fact, it earns several of the adjectives mentioned above.

Starting from the front: It opens with peach, or rather very ripe pineapple. Along with a hint of something cheesy, which seems to be the only contribution of bergamot. The thickened synthetic wood may also play a role; like acidified Duro-Cashmeran, just viiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii much weaker. If I have finally succeeded in deciphering this cheesy note - that alone would have been worth testing the fragrance.

Regarding the strawberry, I am initially unsure, as after a quarter of an hour, it has burst and the scent is on the skin. It now has more of a smoothie quality, everything equalized and muted, and possibly a bit indecisive.

But then: I sense pyramidally concealed spices from the curry corner, very gently, they hardly stand out from the wood. Cumin and turmeric? I have to guess, something is there. Our smoothie is cleverly spiced! Original. Overall, it does its job well, and it seems quite consistent that the fruit has turned into a purée, which now speaks for a laboratory general fruit. This gives the spicy wink a little more room.

Back to the supposedly quiet fruit. Surprisingly, my favorite colleague immediately said “strawberry” when she entered my office. In general: The fruity note is relatively(!) pleasant, at least considering that it comes across as quite artificial. And because too much of such things is known to be not good, it gradually settles down throughout the morning: Around lunchtime, Pluie de Soleil has cozily settled in. Dried fruits in a small wooden bowl perhaps. Bowl, not “-box,” the namesake Slumberhouse is a completely different caliber. Next to it, a few flowers. Please be nice!

Throughout the afternoon, the scent drifts harmlessly and cheerfully towards sweet-creamy, before it finally becomes woody after about six or seven hours. A hint of musk is likely present at the end as well.

Fruit explosion with pineapple and strawberry. Smells almost like a fruit ice. A simple summer gourmand; but also harmless.

At first, a fruit bomb: sweet, fruity, with a light powdery note, then soft, sweet, woody, warm, cozy.

Fruity-sweet, but not cheap-squeaky. The peach dominates for me.

Colorful fruit salad summer scent, really reminds me of Escadas, but in a (slightly) upgraded form. For me more w than m.

Fruity notes are hardly noticeable due to the synthetic veil. Sweet. A bit citrusy. Unisex. H + S below average.
