Beautiful marine flowery
I'm not familiar with Phaedon fragrances and I chose this one to start exploring the house, because it's by Pierre Guillaume and I love how this handsome nose manages to get a tropical, escapist twist out of every fragrance he makes.
No exception here, where tropicality is allegedly stated in the name itself, Sable&Soleil (Sand&Sun).
The overall impression is of a soft aromatic with a floral accord. The base of sandalwood and jasmin provide some body for the vanilla-coconut heart.
The coconut effect is similar to Virgin Island Water: watery and transparent instead of gourmand and meaty.
In the dry down the aromatic aspects becomes more and more prominent, revealing a semi-bitter geranium and spice accord.

I sense the notes list isn't true to the ones I smell. I definitely smell an ozonic-salty note, plus the spicy, at times pungent notes, and a herbal vibe that are not listed.

The Uninvited Guest
I am lying by the pool and a gentle breeze of coconut wafts around my nose. A pleasant sweetness lingers in the air. The sun shines on my skin and I am happy. A lady in a straw hat walks by me with a smile. She is wearing an old-fashioned jasmine scent and I really hope she finds her way a bit faster. But then she stops and her face twists into a nasty grimace. Suddenly, she pours a glass of rancid milk into my face. I have to gag. The old woman sneers and asks if I would prefer her old-fashioned jasmine damage now. How did she know that I can't stand her overpowering scent? Angrily, I rush to the shower and rinse myself off. Of course, without shower gel. To my surprise, I smell quite decent again. But the woman is still lingering. My goodness… Did she bathe in that jasmine scent? The hotel staff rushes over and apologizes to me with a bag of marshmallows and a massage with sunscreen. Unusual, but at least it smells good. They also serve me some coconut slices and a tonka cream. Just as I am reconciled, they seriously place a vase of jasmine at my feet. What is that? I am immediately mentally catapulted back to that witch. I consider disposing of the flowers, but then I realize that the flowers smell much finer and blend harmoniously with the coconut and sunscreen scent. Well, quite decent… So it can stay like this.

Nothing sweeter exists than to behold the light of the sun.
.. once said Friedrich Schiller.
The title is perfectly chosen when considering the fragrance.
To spend a day by the sea with it.
A day where both body and soul dedicate themselves to relaxation by the water.
Sable & Soleil translates to Sand & Sun, and I find the concept of this fragrance truly successful. One is not miles away from what the name and the content suggest.
For it is a well-crafted summer scent that elegantly highlights the wearer, while always bringing a breeze of sunlight to the skin.

Admittedly, Sable & Soleil is not an easy candidate for summer for some, but it quickly develops into a pleasing fragrance that is very close to the skin. A light note of sunscreen, delicately underscored with coconut oil, along with a graceful touch of tuberose and a subtle base of grated sandalwood. Slightly sandy, distinctly creamy in the base. There’s also a hint of tonka bean, vanilla, and a bit of creamy body butter that contains argan oil.

Letting the sun shine on your head, while not taking your eyes off it - sunscreen, warmly tanned skin, good cocktails, endless watermelon, good music, a shaded beach bed where the wind plays with the curtains. The hamster wheel in the head stands still, sleep has set in. The fragrance unfolds more and more into a sweet scent, packed with coconut milk and plenty of sun. However, it feels very refined, so it’s not a cheap imitation of all those sunscreen scents that I know all too well. It is also not a new innovation. The freshness is clearly lacking here. For I do not perceive it as fresh at all. It is far too creamy and a bit oily.

Sable & Soleil is beautiful. Perfect for relaxing on the beach, it doesn’t annoy or disturb. I like it, especially since I often struggle with fragrances that aim to represent the sunny days of the year.
Longevity and sillage are in the upper mid-range. The bottle is simple and high-quality, as one expects from Phaedon.

Welcome to Vacation
The name of the fragrance and the listed scent accords send you straight into a well-deserved beachy vacation. But what a letdown!
The fragrance opens with a lemon scent reminiscent of cleaning products. Not fruity, not real, but rather heavy on the cleaning agent. But then comes the coconut, trying to whisk you away to the South Seas. Your bags are packed, your sun hat is ready, and you board the plane full of anticipation. As soon as you take off, you dream yourself away to the beach and smell the saltwater in the air. But something is off with the scent. Moreover, the plane is just landing in Switzerland... What the heck...

An hour later, you sit at Givaudan/Firmenich and watch the chemists mix your South Sea magic with gleeful delight. They have no interest in the umpteenth salt/coconut/tuberose/beach scent and just throw in an olfactory dump truck of metal, which is probably called a sea accord or something. And plastic lemons. Still thinking of Beachwalk with a hint of Sel Marin? Instead, you get sandflowers and a sprinkle of AB/Blood Concept garnished with sunscreen. At least sunscreen! And actually, it doesn't smell that bad... it's quite intriguing. The more the sunscreen takes over, the more relaxed you become. Maybe you can finally catch a whiff of the sea breeze. You pat the chemists on the shoulder and say goodbye with a smile.

With this fragrance, you won't land in the South Seas, but at Lake Lucerne with a glass of Pina Colada, it’s still quite pleasant.

Exclusive beach vibes! Nothing ordinary here: no party scene, but an exclusive resort in the South Seas. Coconut and sunscreen.

Nothing is fresh here. With lots of coconut oil on my skin, I relax on the wooden lounge. Jasmine wafts over. Synthetics disturb me while dreaming.

In the neighborhood of the Virgin Islands, you find more sweetness, more flowers, more lightness, and less mojito here on the beach.

Creamy summer scent with lots of coconut and few flowers. Vanilla - Tonka has a biting chemical note for me, longevity is okay.

A scent for warm summer evenings. Citrusy, rosy with a gentle embrace of a very lovely light, woody note. Fine!

At the center is coconut milk (or lotion) supported by musk + vanilla. Otherwise floral, sweet, maybe creamy. Clearly feminine. Good.

Not quite successful, but very interesting. Silvery sparkling sweet cream soda, somehow gross, but somehow awesome. Coconut oil on the skin.

My nemesis Aquate is joined here by synthetic coconut... just need tuberose and you've created Belle's kryptonite :(
