Azur Puig 1969

An old "Puig" has found its way to me, one that has been through many waters. Labelled "for women" - but since fragrances have no gender (this one even less so), this "category assignment" means nothing to my nose. There is sound in it, namely that of an echo of a cry of joy in the forest... and across meadows filled with fresh herbs. Thyme - whether wild or not, rosemary - the aromatic blue variety - and a little lavender let a slightly rough freshness bubble forth - green lily of the valley - leaf, blossom and stem - and a touch of jasmine provide a subtly bitter-floral background.. above it all, a hint of cool citrus fruits - underneath, wonderful oakmoss, while earthy-grassy vetiver adds the touch of a cool morning. Men can just as easily reach for this one, as the perfume is ideally suited to anyone who likes their fragrances powerfully herbal. This gets top marks for "unisex fragrances" - one of the spiciest I have ever sniffed. And it can easily hold its own against many "niche fragrances"...

After a very, very short fuzzy - citrus opening lasting just a few seconds, a nicely balanced blend of bitter citrus accord and thyme sets in.
Later, a mild floral note appears, simultaneously followed by a surge of mossy earthy, slightly woody accord.
As it develops further, a herbal cooling note emerges, rather abstractly citrusy, minimally maritime, which craves temperatures above 20 degrees on hot summer days. This "cooling effect" lasts a good 4-5 hours with decent sillage and gradually fades in the 5-6 hour as a lightly mossy, patchouli-earthy base with a hint of jasmine close to the skin.
Reapplying is beneficial for the "refreshment".

Citrusy bitter old-school "Cologne" without an artificially annoying overwhelming "sea breeze" for my taste unisex, even though this term didn't exist in 1969 (when this little water was created).
Unfortunately only available online in Germany, very affordable in a 200ml bottle. The bottle resembles the right image below the price comparison button: grippy, simple with a generous sprayer.
