In the delirium of the "Exotic" years
Tropical Edition. Exotic Taste! With Pineapple Flavour! Feel the Tropics!
It started, as so often, with cocktails. They had to be colorful. In huge glasses. Umbrellas. Half a fruit salad hanging from the edge of the glass. Grenadine here, blue curacao there. Pineapple juice, put it in Tequila Sunrise with the sunset effect, the squeaking blue swimming pools - did I mention the "Blue Lagoon" already? Blue Curacao, vodka, Sprite. Good God, my kidney. BATIDA de COCO to ruin. XUXU. Strawberry margarita and mango daiquiri. Bahama Mama. Planter's Punch.
The Exotic Delirium spread. Suddenly there was Wrigley's Exotic and Fanta Mango. Fisherman's Friend Exotic? For real? My aunt switched to passion fruit pie on Sundays instead of bee sting. And tropical shower gel in abundance. And ice cream. Red Bull Exotic. Gatorade lychee. Guarana Antarctica. In winter you could get acerola C lozenges with a tropical flavour instead of orange. In the shisha, the only flavors were mango or coconut. Cigarillos with lime-rum flavour. Instead of blueberry and peach yoghurt my girlfriend put acai lime and passion fruit guava in the fridge. At every barbecue someone had to bring a fruit salad, which, thanks to the pomegranate, was then allowed to repaint his kitchen afterwards. Pineapple-Mango Tiramisu. Wks.
In short: We were screwed by the "Tropical Aroma Machinery". And many people have great difficulty with tropical-fruity content in perfumes, because they are immediately associated with Axe shower gels and aunts' cakes.
With this history I now dare to write something small about this fragrance.
Yes, it IS a tropical scent and it's fruity too. So you can zap away or keep reading.
Pomelo and prickly annonas produce a sour, creamy and exotic scent. The fragrance resembles a ripe pear with citric speckles. As an antipode with guava, cardamom and pepper a sweet, spicy and especially green note is added. The whole seems very high quality. The tropical fruits are skilfully staged, there is nothing too sweet or sticky or squeaky. The fragrance is very green, moist, fruity and sweet-sour in the first 30 minutes. The bitterness of the leaves or the "green" - the plant juice - reminds me a little bit of Black Citrus from Vilhelm.
Little by little, moderate white flowers are added - the scent becomes a little heavier, but still very pleasant to wear. I smell the wet honeysuckle and the lily.
As an undertone there is a clear soil structure - vetiver, patchouli and the woods reflect a moist, earthy (but rather clean) forest soil. But the whole is only slightly dark and supports the main protagonists green and fruity on their journey through the tropics.
The bitter-sweet guava and green leaves run through the whole fragrance.
You won't find a "real" Cuban jungle here, even if this was the perfumer's theme - the fragrance is too clean and too fruity for that. But it's a very well done, high-quality result to wrap the stripped down tropical theme in a perfume for 2020.
I like the scent a lot, but I can't wear it every day either. Durability is very amazing with about 8 hours. The first two times I have worn the fragrance, I have received two positive comments. This never really happens to me and I am not really interested in it. I was simply surprised.
ABSOLUTELY test if you are interested in the topic. Love or Hate. There is nothing in between. And now bye. My coconut kumquat yogurt is waiting in the fridge.
