Gets the balance just right!
This is my first "Revlon for men" experience. I really shied away from drug store offerings for men in the 20th Century. I wasn't a snob, yet had some many other bigger designers to sample, my budget and space didn't allow a large collection in 1994. Now, with the dust settling on the 20th century, I have time, space and the budget to explore the drug store classics.
Fire & ice for men is a rich, sexy, sweet floral "lost" classic. I never heard of this until now. Marketing flop or just lost in the traffic jam of everything else? It has the "come hither effect" for those who can pull it off. It whisper rather than shouts. Keep in mind, this came out four years before Givenchy Pi. I guess this started the trend of creamy caramel vanilla that would later flood the market for a few years. Like its female counter part, it works in all seasons, soothing in the heat and warming in the cold. It works well as a dance all night, sweat mixing love potion. Mysterious and alluring!!!
There is a yummy "nutty vanilla crunch cone" note throughout that contains a sweet neroli, geranium, rose and violet confection that sits on an amber/musk/cedar/vanilla base. Throw in a smoky "hot" note that sets it off! Its not spicy. Perhaps peppery? I also get a little oakmoss and vetiver just for fun. I really enjoy it in the morning with coffee and pastries. All seasons apply! Versatile and comfortable in any situation.
This works well on a sunny beach or under warm blankets in front of a toasty fire with sexy company. It was released in the unisex 1990s with CK One and Be and the beginning of the gourmand craze. Men and women can comfortably wear with this. It works well with ladies Fire & Ice. Both compositions harmonize perfectly. Frankly, there is no competition. Revlon would never get this cutting edge after Fire & Ice. Its long since vanished from drug store shelves. There was no reformulation. Cologne works as well the after shave. By all means, track down a bottle!!!
