Autumn soul warmer with chypre finish.
After Rituals in the years 2013-2018 partly several fragrances, both for women and men, partly also explicitly unisex has brought out - they have held back this year very much. Since the Roi D'Orient is one of my absolute fall & winter favorites - I was very excited about the new creation from the feel-good house.
To test I got me without him in the store to try out a 15 ml travel bottle.
At home then 1 spray each left & right to the neck & the same for the wrists.
Prelude:
Subtle very fine spice that reminds me of the skin of almonds - I know from Christmas baking for "Mandelinchen" (marzipan almond pastries) - it can be easily pulled off by gently heating the unpeeled almonds in plenty of water & then cooling. However, it is a very measured almost soft spiciness that does not overwhelm but seems very pleasant & rounded. After a good 5-6 min then joins a little cardamom but decidedly subtle, almost floating.
Course:
The fine spiciness of the prelude remains together with the cardamom hints, although the latter now moves into the background - but for me it remains perceptible until shortly before the finish.
Oakmoss adds a greenish earthy note & to be honest I doubt that in the pyramid all the substances used here are enumerated - because it does not remain with oakmoss, in my nose comes in the heart note still cashmeran & also unharziger amber - the cashmeran is wonderfully rounded & very fluffy. The ambery somehow reminds me of melting rock candy sugar...
Finish:
Chypre accord - well that can be somehow quite a lot... since there are countless substances with which you can create a "real" Chypre fragrance - here wirds towards the end again greener, a little like cooled ginger lemon tea, classic herb freshness woodiness. But the really only after just under 5 h comes through but then remains for 2h before Serendipity then becomes fully skin.
Conclusion:
So far, the 2nd Best fragrance of Rituals (1. Roi D'Orient 2. Serendipity 3. Oudh) - Projected especially in the first 2-3 h very neat (on 1.5 m well to be heard) & remains even then to the 6th hour after spraying always dignified perceptible. And that with only 4 sprays. On clothes he holds loosely several days...
All in all, a very successful composition whose purpose is clearly in the current season & which has a calming & balancing effect on me - bottle is kept functional / simple & for the total offered you can call the price only very cheap - smells more like a 150 € + X - fragrance and not after 42.50 € for 60 ml.
Chapeau! Very successful. Currently in fog, drizzle & autumn wind a favorite of mine!

A: Slainté! Cranberry-Juice. B: It's a natural diuretic - my girlfriend drinks it when she has her period. Do you have your period... ?
Many may wonder how I come to the headline - it is a quote from one of my absolute favorite movies (The Departed) and definitely...

Warm spicy security - or: perfectionism from only 3 ingredients.
First tested in 2016 - then in a very hot August in the Rituals store in Amsterdam.
Due to the weather, he could not convince me at that time to buy - probably the sweaty afternoon on which I tested...
