Lady Di marries Dodi
The day Lady Di died, I sat in my little Seat Marbella and drove through Langenargen. I didn't burst into tears, but I found the news on the radio sad. Because I would rather have heard: Lady Di marries Dodi Lafayette. Diana with Dodi in the carriage to the mosque, Elton John at the piano playing "I'm still standing" - has something. I read in a biography that Diana wasn't all that easy. Who is. She liked to put on airs and life under royal roof was certainly not easy either. A loving mother she was, married a man who didn't love her and as a mother-in-law the Queen of England.
Dodi was the son of Mohammed Lafayette, who owned Harrods and bought the La in Lafayette. He was a bon vivant and a ladies' man. Diana was probably into that type of man - southern/Arabic type and thinks herself pretty good. After Charles, I'm sure every man was more exciting. An ending in a luxury car in a Paris tunnel, she hadn't dreamed of.
Not far from the Haarod is the Knightsbridge Hotel. A luxuriously appointed hotel and apartment complex. Nicely situated for shopping mad Harrod customers. In the perfume department I would be gladly times ne night locked and would spray to heart's content.
TiBe and Pluto have hinted in their statements, Knightsbridge might appeal to me. Foul and leathery fermented - I'll have to try that one.
The scent starts with lovely roses, dusted with a pinch of nutmeg. Like there's a bouquet of roses in my room at Knightsbridge. Very soon comes a slightly ashy note that makes it so alluring to me. The longevity is not that tingly, I kept re-spraying. After a few hours, the showdown is this great creamy powder, as in the little mirror cases filled with it. I can literally smell the little sponge gliding over my skin, see myself with this little preciousness, the case in my hand. Add to that a delicate leather note - perfect. The rose remains throughout the fragrance, only becoming fainter. The fragrance is subtly spiced with tonka, I also feel a hint of fruitiness.
It's certainly beyond my financial means to spend a night at Knightsbridge. I prefer to sleep more simply too, but a visit to Harrods - that's on my wish list.
