A knighthood to the heart
At the beginning/mid 90's, freshness, cleanliness and aquatics were in demand - "Basala" could hardly have crawled onto the market at a more inappropriate time. But of course this brutal belly landing doesn't take anything away from his excellence and his flowery-merrish style...
A wild classic mishmash like "Basala" is nowadays unthinkable as a new release in the designer field, from back to front. And as its "OoP" existence confirms, it was apparently that almost 30 years ago. What an oversight of the world! "Basala" is a wonderful, strong floral, but at the same time it is a men's fragrance in its own right. A tobacco lavender gentleman, who fully fascinates me, where I really regret that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. You can imagine him as the lost link between "Relax" (!) and "Insense" (!!) - and I think that speaks for itself. What a hard-to-get triumvirate... "Basala" has a leathery base, very bitter and only minimally ambered, but on top of that there is a dreamy-tart bouquet of ashtray bunches of flowers shortly before their death, where they are just about to give up their last, tastiest drunkards. Simply simply splendid. An actually essential scent for the transitional seasons. Foliage leaves. Meditation. Confidence. Shiseido, brave enough for an authentic, unpolished new edition? ;-)
Flacon: powerful, curvy, beautiful - matches the fragrance
Sillage: dosed exactly right, never not there
Shelf life: 8 hours I easily got to enjoy
Conclusion: what a stylish, relaxed steam hammer... i don't want to say that the current lunar prices for this hired sweetheart justify themselves - but it's close... "Basala" is/was a disarmingly great smell!
