My First Niche Fragrance
It was in August 2019, I was 29 years old. We were in Italy at Lake Como. In the second week, we took a trip to Como.
How I love this country. It is my favorite travel destination. The atmosphere, the people, the food, the sun…
With my partner A., I strolled through the streets of Como. In two weeks, it would be our anniversary. I should look for a gift here. I thought a new fragrance would be nice. At that time, my collection consisted of 8 fragrances: “Marc Jacobs - Daisy, La Vie est Belle, Lanvin - Éclat d'Arpège” and Cool Water by Davidoff, along with a few other insignificant scents from the drugstore. In Como, I had my first encounter with the niche world.
We came across a small niche perfumery. A middle-aged saleswoman served us. With hands and feet, I tried to communicate, as my English and her English were not particularly good. I tried to explain to her what I was looking for. The fragrance should be feminine, elegant, but also playful. Definitely not too sweet…
I tested almost the entire store. My boyfriend and the friendly saleswoman had to show quite a bit of patience. But both remained calm and let me proceed with a smile on my face. The saleswoman was so kind and held one fragrance strip after another under my nose.
I was overwhelmed by the whole selection. I found the prices to be outrageous, as I had never bought a fragrance that cost more than €50 until then.
However, the prices here were significantly higher.
My boyfriend said it didn’t matter what it cost; he wanted to gift it to me. Still, I told the saleswoman that the price limit should be €100, and it should preferably be an Italian brand so that the fragrance would remind me of our vacation.
She then showed me the brand “Simone Cosac.” I tested all the fragrances from the brand and settled on Bianca.
This is the fragrance! It was exactly what I had been looking for.
The white bottle looks so elegant. I have never owned such a bottle before.
The scent is so pure, clean, and fresh but still elegant, feminine, and floral.
I fell in love with the fragrance, and my boyfriend bought it for me.
The saleswoman also included a lot of perfume samples. I kept these at home for years like a treasure in a shoebox. Back then, I didn’t know that in a few years, I would own a perfume collection of over 100 bottles.
I left the store with my perfume bag and my new treasure, overjoyed. It was a scorching hot day. The sun was just setting, and we were still enjoying ice cream.
It wasn't until two years later that my great passion for perfume began when my father was in a coma. In the weeks of anxiety, I tried to distract myself. I discovered Parfumo. I read reviews of fragrances and ordered a few new scents. The world of perfume is so vast, so diverse. The components of a fragrance, which notes you can smell… A completely new world opened up to me. Since then, I have been captivated by this world and do not want to break free.
Simone Cosac's “Bianca” will always accompany me and will always have a place in my heart. The fragrance will always remind me of the two weeks in Italy. Of Lake Como, the experiences, and impressions.
“Bianca” was my first niche fragrance but also the fragrance of my love for A.
If I ever marry A., I want to wear Bianca at my wedding. That is already set in my mind.
