Burnt Beach
“Sale Nero” - the black salt from Reghens. The name says it all.
A North Sea beach full of reeds, gray sand, and salty deposits. Perhaps a campfire was lit here last night, sharing spooky stories about dead sailors wanting their gold back. Dry salt, slightly charred or near a volcano. Sicily and Etna send their regards. Not aquatic or marine, but somehow it is. Not table salt, not pure sea salt, almost more like the surface of a foreign planet. Hot-cold. Spicy and warm. Never bland and an interesting play with fire. And it doesn’t cost much ash.
Bottle: looks like classic gentleman colognes... simple and beautiful.
Sillage: subtly fished out
Longevity: 7 hours until the tide goes out
Conclusion: a salty summer scent with a black soul. When algae tussle out of love. The name does not promise too much. Ash Wednesday, and it’s all over. Really pleasantly pitch-dark!
