Superdry – totally fresh !
Steel is the one fragrance (of two in total) in Zippo Style Flask, which is more suited to daily use. I like the flask, in this case in steel and transparent. The dosage while spraying is a little bit spare, so I have to use it 2 or 3 times more in comparison to other fragrances.
Steel starts with a fresh top note, in which one can think of lime and bergamot. It then changes to a very harmonious freshness which reminds of washed towels. Quite pleasant and unintrusive and very hard to describe – probably lilies and violet. For my taste, the whole scent could have been a little more intense, as this "modesty" leeds to lack of longevity. But maybe it is this decency which provides for good daily use capability and even office compatibility...

almost an all-rounder
It starts very fresh/fruity and I really like it from the first moment.
The freshness doesn't fade at any point throughout its duration, but the fruitiness quickly disappears and the woodiness comes to the forefront, which I actually like even better. Applied right after showering before an early shift, it works better for me than a cup of coffee. The fresh scent drives away thoughts of sleep.
Unfortunately, the longevity on me is quite weak, so it sadly doesn't even come close to lasting through a workday. Normally, I am very, very careful with the sprayer, but with Steel, a few more sprays can be used without terrorizing the environment. Because it is so weak, I wouldn't take it out for an evening, and therefore it is just almost an all-rounder for me. It is perfectly suitable for everything else.
If the rating were purely about the scent itself, it would have received a score of 90 to 100, but because it is unfortunately so weak, it stays at 80.

Edit: The bottle is really great and the spray head sprays totally evenly!

Fresh and Casual
Once again, I discovered something new at Douglas, and this time it’s truly worth a few lines. Superdry is a clothing label from the UK: nothing fancy, rather aimed at a youthful audience, hence a lot of T-shirts, sweaters, and such stuff. There are also fragrances, at least recently - and the Turquoise ones advertise that they distribute them exclusively.

The fragrances Black and Steel are positioned in the mid-price segment. Adjusted for the perhaps not-so-thick wallets of a younger buying audience, the fragrances come in 75 ml and 40 ml, the latter for just under 40 €. You can't complain about that, but you certainly can't expect much either.

The impression that Steel leaves is surprisingly pleasant. For both perfumes, it holds true that the Turquoise ones have had significantly worse options on the shelf. Even the packaging is nice. They have drawn on the “Zippo” idea and equipped the bottle with a flip-top cap. You should give Steel a few minutes to unfold, then it reveals a pleasant, fresh-woody side. The aldehydes in the top notes are understandable, with minimal hints of violet leaf as well. There are slight echoes of the idea of freshly washed laundry - but really just minimal. A musk scent of the type “laundry” or “fresh bed sheets” is certainly not what Steel is. Towards the base, Steel takes on a leather-like aspect for me.

A good composition! However, there’s really nothing new about it, but that’s not always necessary. By the way, while testing, another fragrance kept coming to mind, one that was available for a while among the Turquoise ones: Burberry Sport Ice. That fragrance stood out with a spicy ginger note. Somehow, I sense a similarity to Steel, even though Steel is by no means a summery sport fragrance. Despite its freshness, the leathery-woody side pulls Steel into the cold season.

Steel is certainly nothing great, but it’s quite decently made. I can imagine Steel as a good everyday choice for the right person.

Fresh-fruity scent with a decent spiciness. Not bad for the price at all.
