Best thing ever

How long have I had this decant now? Over a month? I fell head over heels in love with it when I first sprayed it on. And yet still I can’t really express how much I like this scent.

The initial smell reminds me a bit of a soft fluffy lemon cake. More cake than lemon by the way. And then it hit me. Is this the smell of a birthday cake? Funny, as this is an anniversary edition. That smell may linger a bit in the first hour and then it transforms a bit into something more waxy, like shoe polish. Maybe the tiniest bit of gasoline. But all amazingly under control by a cleanliness. Not bubbly soapy but clean nonetheless.

There’s something sweet and heavy going on. Reminding me a lot of Dior Homme Parfum (2014) . The “good” version according to connoisseurs. A bit of leather so to speak, but without the iris but with shoepolish.

It’s the best smell ever in my opinion. It’s super masculine. It’s got the perfect sillage, it’s got longevity. But there’s one gripe, the price. One advantage is that it makes the scent unique. But boy do I crave this. I won’t pay 400€ for 50ml, but I’ll check the online prices with great regularity.

Perfect for this Autumn

A beautiful surprise.
Better and more wearable than your predecessor (Homme). A centered leather fragrance.
Halfway between the raw leather jacket of a wild James Dean smelling of Knize Ten vintage and the gasoline from his motorcycle and the Daniel Craig suede jacket with the sophisticated scent of the Puredistance M and the Aston Martin DBS upholstery and upholstery Superleggera of No Time to Die.
Perhaps the right olfactory image will be Indiana Jones leather jacket as it is inspired by semi-precious stones of the London Natural History Museum.
A somewhat vintage fragrance in the opening but superelegant, masculine, warm, classy and seductive and with a sweet, modern vibe in the drydown.
Perfect for this Autumn.

Confusing clash of disparate notes

The notes listing for Homme Anniversary is all over the place and that's what this fragrance kind of is. In the opening you get a tame aromatic soapy opening, similar to a lot of other "old-school" fragrances like Bois du Portugal but then a powerful sweet candy note appears. In the note pyramid it is described as two distinct notes, "lemon mousse" and "candied fruits" but it kinda just comes across as gummy-bear-like candy. The drydown is also confusing, with almost smoky leather coming through. If the soapy-sweet opening was toned down and the leather came through quicker I think this would be a great fragrance. But the clash between the soapiness, candy sweetness, and leather is a bit too much for me to handle. I could see someone really liking this fragrance if this combination was up their alley, but to me it seems like a mish-mash of disparate parts that doesn't really make a whole.

Azzaro pour homme intenses meets CK Reveal

How is the currently most hyped scent even enough? Well, it took less than 10 seconds and I immediately had Azzaro pour Homme Intense and CK Reveal in my head. Overall, a herbaceous green, slightly smoky leather with citrus overtones and an alcoholic note that is almost reminiscent of tequila - probably the CK Reveal association.

The whole thing is accompanied by soap. More in the direction of curd soap/ Irish spring. And that creates a connection to the OG Xerjoff Homme.

Overall, it's kind of disappointing, I was expecting THE scent, it's just ONE scent. Even if it's a little more modern, it's still old school and, despite playing with contrasts, too uninspired.

Longevity is good, but not great. The bottle is an absolute feast for the eyes

Maßanzug und Whiskey

Dieser Duft tritt mit Selbstbewusstsein auf, nicht laut sondern ruhig aber dominant. Wie ein maßgeschneiderter Anzug mit einem Lächeln darunter. Elegant, dunkel, leicht süß aber mit Lederkante. Ideal für kühle Tage, Dinner, Theater oder wenn du Präsenz willst, ohne ein Wort zu sagen. Funktioniert auch im Büro, wenn das Büro Chefetage ist ;)
