Me and My Wood

Don't worry, I'm not going to sing the wood song by the 257ers,
although I must admit, I had it stuck in my head immediately.
Now comes my song about wood:
Wood is a raw material,
that looks good.
You can find it in the forest.
Wood can be sawn and also planed.
Then it smells warm, spicy, fine.
A beautiful wood is the cypress.
Knobby, robust, and evergreen.
Delightfully balsamic and grounding.
One likes to be in the woods.
I'm done with the wood song now.

A Friendly Conversation Among Friends

"Widdringtonia" is half as exotic as its name suggests and is actually just a well-made, single-note cedar scent. Human, woody, somewhat spicy and sweaty. Those who know the wood will understand what I mean and that I don't mean this negatively. However, the fragrance from the Body Shop does not come across as an EdP. The price of €38 for 50 ml is just as unremarkable. Great deal!

"Widdringtonia" is, according to Wiki, an African cypress, and the scent definitely exudes a bit of dry desert feeling. It sweats, it breathes, it has earned its nickname "aromatic." However, those who do not get along with cedar will not suddenly become a fan of this characterful wood. I like this heavy, oriental and spicy aura. Bright yet gray. Something like a pencil in the Sahara sun or a dead yet majestic tree. Although cedar is actually a type of pine and doesn't quite fit my mental imagery.

Bottle: small but impressive
Sillage: Cedars usually blend excellently & pleasantly with the skin's natural scent. This one is no exception.
Longevity: unfortunately, after 4-5 hours, the pleasant cedar tree scent had already faded away.

Conclusion: not an outstanding cedar scent, but strong in terms of price-performance ratio. Those who like this wood will not find a better fragrance at the Body Shop. However, they probably already have a better perfume in their collection.

Wood or cypress with a strange fig note. You definitely find yourself sniffing it often and puzzling over it. The odd fig ruins it for me.
