What can i say to Noir Extreme. For many in the fragrance community this is the best Date night scent ever created.
Let's start with the presentation of the scent first. The bottle is truly beautiful the fluted glas on the side. indented in the fluted parts is also the Tom Ford logo which is very nice touch. A detail which i dont really like and is a problem in general with the Tom Ford brand is the cap. You notice right away that it is just cheap plastic. For the prices Tom Ford fragrances go for retail you could expect better quality there.
The important part now: The scent itself. As mentioned before many consider this the best Date night fragrance ever created. It's hard to disagree with that statement but of course that is subjective to everyone. For me it is definitely very high up on the list.
Tom Ford Noir Extreme starts in it's opening with the note of Cardamom. Cardamom is a note which in itself doesn't smell particularly nice but it is used by scents in all brands to elevate other notes because it's a very good platform the other Opening Notes of: Mandarin, Nutmeg, Safron and Neroli. It has a slight bitterness which i personally get on the start from the Mandarin with the Cardamom.
This scent is not something you fall in love with because of its opening. This scent is truly a star of it's heart notes and well the base notes.
The Heart Note contains Kulfi which is an Indian desert kinda like frozen yogurt which caramelizes while you cook it giving it a very distinct taste and smell. Tom Ford Noir Extreme is the only wide available perfume on the market with this note. When the scents start to dry down you get that really smooth texture from the Kulfi which makes this truly one of a kind. This smoothness is supported by Jasmine, Orange blossoms, Rose and Mastic.
The Base Notes contain: Vanilla, Amber, Woody Notes and Sandalwood, which takes Tom Ford Noir Extreme very close to the gourmand section of fragrances.
Seasons: This is a heave more sweet scent which is perfect for Fall, Winter and early Spring. It's perfect if you wanna go out on a nice dinner with someone this is truly ideal. Summer can work if you don't go to heavy on the trigger with it. More an evening scent although i wear it to work because i can.
Performance: Tom Ford Noir extreme is a long lasting scent on my skin it holds on for 7-8 hours easily. The projection depends on your Skin for many its average for others it's strong so that's something you might find out if you sample.
Price: The 50 ml Size retails 155$ on Tom Ford offical website. The 100 ml for 225$. This is way to expensive so don't buy it in their stores, it's laughably overprized there. On German retailer Flaconi i found it for 121,90 €. So do a bit of digging around online and you find it for a fair price.
If that is still a bit to much money for your taste I can recommend either Jean Paul Gaultier's Le Male Elixir (although this is a bit better for clubbing imo) or Prada Luna Rossa Black. Luna Rossa Black is different from the notes but is still a very dark mysterious scent like Noir Extreme. Le Male Elixir is more a gourmand compared to Noir Extreme because of it's huge amount of Tonka Bean in there.
