Between a soft drink and a laundry detergent

Once upon a time in distant Spain some perfumers working for a fashion accessories company couldn't decide if they wanted a scent that smelled like something you'd consume - a candy or a soft drink, or a scent that smelled like a laundry detergent. They settled on a scent that smelled like something in between, which resulted in a mediocre and rather cloying fragrance. The end.

Beach Bar in the Evening

I believe everyone knows those moments: You’ve jetted off to the next palm paradise with the guys or your crush to simply let your batteries recharge and relax. You spend the day in the scorching sun doing this and that - lounging, eating, sunbathing, hiking - and in the evening, everyone comes back, carefree and tired.

You take the obligatory shower and get ready, as you’ve made plans to chill at the beach bar. As you step out of the hotel with your shirt open, the warm evening air greets you.

THIS is what this fragrance was made for, for that evening-at-the-beach-bar moment on vacation.

So what can you expect? Well, I still haven’t become particularly good at describing scents. I could recite the fragrance pyramid from above, but you can all read that yourselves :)

First of all, it should be noted that in my perception, there is at most a two-phase progression. The scent is relatively constant. At the beginning, you are hit by a wonderful freshness, where the lemon is definitely present, but certainly doesn’t play the leading role. It’s like a very fresh breeze, but I don’t like calling it aquatic because the water or sea aspect isn’t the decisive factor. Instead, I once read the term "air tones" on a website about this fragrance, and I must say, that describes it almost perfectly. A very fresh breeze coming from a mountain lake, yet still possessing a slightly sweet note.

"Like freshly showered" captures it quite well, especially since everyone can imagine that :) For me, however, it feels much more noble and substantial than a regular shower gel shampoo.

As already mentioned, I perceive the scent as rather two-phased, which means I can’t really identify the listed heart notes like ginger and apple. After about 3 hours, the freshness is still there, but a very pleasant masculine note has joined in with the musk and cedarwood. Overall, it’s a very well-rounded fragrance, and it has become one of my absolute favorite summer perfumes.

The sillage is good and sufficient for the first 4 to 5 hours, but unfortunately, you have to make slight concessions regarding longevity. I don’t think it lasts more than 7 hours. However, if you apply generously, it should probably be enough until you’re back in bed.

So for those who know these vacation moments and love that feeling of freshness, I can truly recommend this fragrance...

Freshness at the Push of a Button

With sport fragrances, it's a bit of a mixed bag. Some big brands often shoot themselves in the foot with the release of a sport flanker, using the scents purely as a money-making machine. Rarely does a fragrance labeled "Sport" achieve great acceptance and a nod of approval within the fragrance community.

Tous has done a lot right with "Tous Sport." Pure freshness and just the kick you need after sports or an evening shower following 9 hours in the office at 27 degrees. It comes across very clear, fresh, and citrusy at the beginning. I believe that besides lemon and cedar, there is also green tea in it. But I could be mistaken. After about 30 minutes, I particularly enjoy the Granny Smith note. Juicy and fruity. The fragrance lasts about 3 hours until the base sets in with a good portion of oak moss. Overall, it comes across very masculine and cozy.

The fragrance does exactly what it should. Refresh...revive...and accompany me on summer evenings on the terrace. It keeps saying in between: "I'm here." And that's a good thing.

For me, a wonderful fragrance for summer evenings. By the way: Absolutely office-friendly. I gladly apply 7-10 sprays...you notice it, but it’s not annoying. Perfect.

My Favorite Summer Sport Fragrance

I simply like the Unknown. Its citrusy woody body with its aquatic note hits my taste just right. Well, it is unobtrusive, and one or two people might put it in the drawer of the typical sport fragrances. Yes, damn it, it is unspectacular, but its freshness lasts above average. And what is different about this scent compared to others: it smells natural, I can wear it every day, and it never annoys me. With other sport classics like L'eau D'issey Sport or Kenzo Sport, I have to switch the fragrance after 3-4 days at the latest.
Unfortunately, Tous Man Sport has received little attention since its release in 2010 - unjustly, I think.
