Oops, it's still available!
Just discovered on the Kauhof website at the Kö. There's also a new clothing collection, and what a collection it is, definitely check out the website! Onofri was in the 80s for me the lively-luxurious, slightly frivolous counterpoint to the basic, middle-class coal pot stench from which I unfortunately come.
I'm getting in the car now and heading out to sniff!

Fresh-Sweet Floral-Exotic-Lavender Triad
The Italian Onofri, whose fashion company is now bankrupt, is hardly found in the fragrance world despite his existence.

In somewhat clumsy, new packaging, the above fragrance is available online in a trio set at throwaway prices at Axe level (100 ml EdT & 250 ml shower gel for 13 euros).

Unfortunately, the content, contrary to many truly great Italian fragrance experiences I had last year, is also not worth a fortune, although at least it is solidly made.

A somewhat brutal sweet-floral start, heliotrope hits the olfactory passages, thoroughly floral, somewhat honey-like, with a slight candy note.

Ylang Ylang goes all out additionally, exotic-tinged, also floral nectar-loving and penetrating. Fresh, but also quite pretty feminine in its exuberance.

Neroli and lavender then come through in a staggered manner, a bit like orange liqueur in which a few lavender flowers have been soaked. For me, it’s all a bit too much, too shrill, not entirely free from a synthetic feel.

Even the wonderful "Versace L'Homme" does not start quietly next to the lemon when it comes to the flowers, but there is a grand tension arc due to the aforementioned herb-green citrus tones and naturalness.

Here, I do not see a young, dynamic 80s Italian with machismo in front of me, but rather an older, polished signore, somewhat worn out, who only crouches daily on a plastic chair in front of the "bar" and rambles on.

"Onofri Homme" also remains attached to the ylang ylang in the middle part, fortunately relies a bit more on wood, and a slightly more bitter sage can join in.
The somewhat limp, slightly sweet floral aspect remains the core theme of the fragrance and somehow makes it clear that it has no place in the premium fragrance sector.

What is missing is something fundamentally masculine, serious, especially decisive. The fragrance quickly annoys me with its exaggerated heliotrope-ylang ylang excess. You really don’t need it.

Neglected Italian
Like his "older brother" (?), "Tristano", this fragrance here has only a handful of owners and is hardly commented on at all. It doesn't deserve this...

"Year of release unknown." Yes, even on Basenotes, it is not known. I wonder what that could be due to. Certainly not a lack of quality. Now, this fragrance does not reinvent the wheel, and one searches in vain for surprises or groundbreaking newness. We are simply dealing with a classic herb-spicy men's perfume.

No more, but also no less. Masculine, without being macho or intrusive. Classically composed. After the almost fresh (and rather short) top note, it becomes nicely smoky in the heart note, and in the drydown, it is slightly woody, warm, and sensual. There is little to criticize, yet also no reason for excessive enthusiasm.

Anyway, this very affordably priced fragrance can easily compete with most of what is available in the mainstream today, in my opinion. Solid, unremarkable, and unsynthetic, this colleague. Sometimes, that is not only more than sufficient but even desired.

TOH, a role model for many younger imitators, is still a wearable fragrance. Despite the low price, it’s well above discount level.

Solid men's fragrance for a small price. Lavender at the start, then green-herbaceous with warm spice. Price/performance - how do they do it?
