Modern interpretation of cologne I Fresh spice with (unfortunately) too high a price tag!
Over the last few weeks, I have had the opportunity to get to grips with the Note di Colonia range. I found this interesting because this range is supposed to represent "the Bentley" of fresh fragrances within the brand, so I was extremely excited about the outcome.
But now to the fragrance and how I feel about Note di Colonia II:
- The opening is extremely fresh, a blend of bergamot and orange provides an initial blast of slightly sweet freshness, which is balanced by a slightly spicy-green cardamom-basil combo. The opening is well done, but not really "ban-breaking" in the sense that the wheel has been reinvented and/or there is such a unique composition here that it would justify such a hefty pricing policy
- In the drydown, warm sandalwood and guaiac are added, which then unite in a slightly earthy-green base consisting of musk and vetiver. The fragrance retains its freshness and typical "cologne style", but fades very quickly
- The projection is okay for the first 30 minutes, but then drops massively. The longevity is also rather in the lower mid-range, just the general problem of AdP.
Overall, a good, fresh, dry and spicy fragrance that has a great opening. Would I buy a whole bottle? Probably less, it's not original enough for me and just doesn't do justice to the price. However, I think that there are some people who are simply looking for fresh, close-to-the-skin fragrances for an office, but there are also better, cheaper alternatives such as Gentle Fluidity (Silver), L'Homme, etc.
