Have we found the best Zara fragrance here?
It's not even that easy to say, over the years Zara has really brought some great fragrances onto the market. Especially in the last 1-2 years, I would say that there has been another significant change - also in terms of durability - especially since the topic of perfume has become increasingly important for the average consumer through various influencers.

In addition to hyped fragrances such as Vibrant Leather (2018) Eau de Parfum or Sunrise on the Red Sand Dunes Eau de Parfum due to their clear proximity to the expensive role models, I would also clearly put this one in the top 5 Zara fragrances, for me this fragrance even takes first place.

The opening is really incredible, the fragrance literally explodes on the skin with an expressive composition of fresh and tangy mandarin (without being too sweet), paired with a very pleasant and mass-appealing rose note. Spicy saffron and creamy almond can already be sensed at this stage, but only become really relevant a little later in the fragrance
After about 15 minutes, the opening subsides and I notice the saffron, but above all the almond, more and more clearly. At this stage, the fragrance reminds me a little of Tardes Eau de Parfum and transports me to a summer vacation, although I wouldn't necessarily describe this fragrance as a summer fragrance. The tobacco can already be sensed at this point, but is still very restrained and only adds a little smoky spice to the otherwise rather creamy-sweet fragrance impression.

It is not until the drydown that the tobacco can really be identified as the main note. Compared to other fragrances in which tobacco is a major theme, such as Tobacco Vanille Eau de Parfum , Red Tobacco or Ambre Tabac, I find the note here much more pleasant and softer. In the drydown, the fragrance clearly loses sillage, which is a real shame, as I find the drydown very beautiful. It is woody, spicy, somewhat sweet and a little smoky.

All in all, I can only give this fragrance a good rating, especially as I got it for 6€(!!!). I don't know the Night Veils - Tobacco Mandarin, but if it is indeed as similar as the reviews here on Parfumo suggest, I will probably never try it... for what? I didn't even pay 3% of the price of the original and am more than satisfied.

Finally, a small side note on the longevity and sillage: in the first 1.5-2 hours, the fragrance really blows you away, as friends have confirmed. After that, its presence decreases significantly, but it stays on the skin for a good amount of time. I normally apply 3-4 sprays to the back of the neck, but here I would recommend an additional 2-3 sprays on clothing to improve the longevity and sillage. For the price, you can also take it with you and spray it again halfway through the day.

Brudi lass ma Shishabar!
By way of introduction, I'd like to tell you about my wife's sneezing fit when she first noticed the perfume on me and said that something smelled very spicy and peppery. I would never contradict her publicly, but as she is not registered here, I have to do it anyway. Because:

I really can't detect any pepper in TOB/02 Tobacco Tango. A certain spiciness at the beginning, yes. However, it radiates more of a dry saffron/rose accord, in which the mandarin only shows its strength at certain points. The rose, on the other hand, is more present, at least for the first few minutes. Then, in keeping with its name, tobacco takes the stage and almost becomes the sole entertainer. To stick with the jargon, however, I would choose a hot flamenco instead of a tango. Less accurate linguistically, but more appropriate in terms of content, as the tobacco fires up nicely and leaves its mark on even inexperienced noses in the heart note. A little pipe, a lot cigarette, a little shisha. Something sweet resonates in the background, but it cannot be clearly defined.

No big surprises are to be expected from now on. The tobacco becomes softer, the fragrance as a whole milder and sweeter, the mandarin orange makes its final appearance. After a good 3-4 hours, I only notice something close to the skin - but that could also be due to my chronic fragrance blindness. In any case, an exciting eau de parfum that doesn't do much wrong for the price and delivers what the notes promise. Hats off. Gesundheit Schatz.

Rose resin black-rose black resin

It starts with the impression of a palatable, heavy florate. Dark violet, purple, if you want to classify it by color.
The spiciness and viscous sweetness inevitably remind me of mulled wine sweets. I also think I can hear very quiet and distant grassy-hay-like sounds and a very subtle animal note (just a nuance). During this period, "Tabacco Tango" gives the impression of leaning feminine.

In the drydown, a gentle color change to blue-violet. It has a spicy-fresh effect, with a herbaceous dark green in the background.

It seems to me that "Tabacco Tango" is something for specialists in classically tuned, heavy floral, dark perfumes. It exudes an aura of sympathetic, smug, aristocratic elegance. Assertive, self-confident, occasionally passionate. Fascinating and already quite unisex here.

Once the start is over, a solid and balanced composition unfolds. Well done, what is on offer here! Only it won't be my perfume.
In the final glide out, it reminds me a little of the creations of the equally inexpensive and solidly realized perfumes by Louis Varel. The heaviness and opulence that they have. At Zara, however, much more airy and pleasant.
In this respect, the farewell is of a somewhat lower quality, but is not particularly heavy.

The rose is noticeable throughout the entire fragrance, quickly finding harmony with the composition. The tobacco floats gently behind it. Saffron does its job well. Everything is pleasantly dry, sweet and spicy. Here and there a creaminess, again and again spicy and partly fresh peaks and basically a palatable smoky sweetness. You always walk through wood-scented paper walls. A perfume like a walk in which the fragrance landscape remains in motion.

A Secret Danced Between Two People
Originally founded along the Rio de la Plata, the river that separates Argentina from Uruguay, in the 1880s, it should come as no surprise that tango eventually took the world by storm, since so many corners of the globe influenced its creation. Drawing inspiration from both African and European cultures, tango was influenced by Cuba’s habanera dance, Argentinia’s milonga and the traditional candombe dances of Argentina’s African population.
Much like the dance of the same name, tango music originated in lower-class areas of Buenos Aires and Montevideo and drew from multiple musical backgrounds, merging them to create the distinct style we recognize today. The Argentine Tango is more than a mere dance style. Referred to as “a secret danced between two people”, this form of tango relies on intuition and connection.

TOB/02 Tobacco Tango is like a tango between the Tobacco and Leather couple. It belongs to the Ingredients Stories series, according to the label that seals the box. From the first spray, I perceived a niche genre, a polarizing perfume not designed for mass pleasure. There are lots of heavy and hitting notes in this one, so the opening is massive. If you’re like me, you’ll love it. For me, this is my favourite of the three pieces in the TOB/ series. Even though I bought the TOB/01 Tabac & Jazz first (only Jazz and Treasure were available on the shelf), when I tried it later I couldn’t resist and bought it right away.

Tobacco Tango begins with a creamy, slightly medicinal and alcoholic duo of mandarin and bergamot on a spicy background. The citrus accord is evanescent, calms down quickly and plays a supporting role, just like other flavours used in pipe tobacco, and never becomes too sweet or too savoury to fit comfortably into the blend. My skin seems to go straight from this orange/resinous opening to the narcotic tobacco and leather. That opening chord holds it up sweetly and boozy, despite nothing being indicated in the olfactory pyramid; it's more of a rum or cognac-soaked aged barrel accord than a Speyside peated whiskey style spirit accord, but it's very complementary to the other great notes.
For a while, I thought of a soft, tender pipe tobacco, but soon a very resinous, bitter, medicinal, slightly acidic leathery edge popped out and turned the tobacco into something darker, bitter, dense and nutty. If you are familiar with the leathery, animalic, and bitter notes, you will immediately recognize the imposing presence of the notes of saffron flower and bitter almonds, very similar to the seeds we find inside the core of the peach, which have the same smell as almonds but much more bitter. I can summarize the opening as an alcoholic, sirupy, and spicy accord.

As the fragrance warms with body heat, the floral notes of the rose make their way, not a moist and dewy or gelatinous rose, but a woody rose, similar to rosewood with those sweet, fresh, and herbaceous-woody accents, which delicately enhances the floral, spicy and amber notes. Despite the presence of the very sweet ylang-ylang flower, overall the fragrance does not appear too honeyed, sweet, or nauseating. They are indeed, combined with the precious rose and guaiac wood, which we know is a little deep with burnt nuances. In the central phase, fruity notes also emerge, do not associate with fresh fruit such as apple, pear, or pineapple, but with dried fruit such as dates and candied citrus peels for example. The trail reveals a sweet fruitiness that the wearer may not perceive on their person. Now the bitter imprint of the almond has weakened in favour of the drier and amber ones of tobacco and coumarins.

As TOB/02 approaches the dry-down, a sweet, powdery tonka exudes and blends with the tobacco. Drying becomes so wonderfully cosy. Spices, resins, leathery and tobacco notes provide subtle and silent support. There’s just a hint of sweetness and smokiness. The labdanum supports the initial leathery texture of the saffron, and the incense offers a hint of resinousness and smokiness without pushing the scent towards anything religious or liturgical. The scent is now close to the skin, a leathery fragrance with some sweet and sour powdery almond, also similar to heliotrope, and the initial creaminess and butteriness on the back. Beautiful, rich and luxurious.

It's one of the best tobacco scents you can buy that isn’t disgustingly sweet. It may remind you of other tobacco fragrances, but it is truly seductive. Smooth and sensual. Unisex, I recommend all women who love light leather and dry tobacco notes to try it. The tobacco in this is very pronounced, with distinctive animalic facets. There’s something medicinal about it, band-aid-like and leathery, almost rubbery. Sillage is moderate but not overwhelming and longevity is average and better than the TOB/01 Tabac & Jazz. So warm and welcoming that it undoubtedly suits the evenings and night outings of the colder autumn and winter months. How about the first cold mornings?

I'm basing my opinion on a bottle I've owned since November 2023 (BC 32930).

The almond note is powdery and combined with tonka creates a coconut accord. Cigar cereal and milk under a coconut palm. Great!

In response to the previous statement: I see no similarities between this one and DHP.
TOB/02 is much more similar to Casamorati Italica.

The most pompous of the three TOBs, with leathery, resinous and incensed inflections. Top of the podium for me.

Spicy Rose/oud kind of combo. It reminds me just a little to Dior Homme Parfum. Tobacco is nice! Best of the line IMO.
