Absolute love at the second squirt
"A masterpiece," writes the reviewer before me. I agree. Awesome. Yes, Zara has some real surprises in store. There are gorgeous fragrances in there, and I'm going to stay tuned here because I want to go on a journey of discovery.
This fragrance comes in the Jo Malone collaboration. I tried eight fragrances in the set and have to say I was very postively surprised. Most have compelling longevity, even though you often don't notice them on your skin. Staying. The scent here was very scratchy when first applied. Probably what they call "leather" in perfume. I ordered the roll-on and the original bottle right away (which I hope comes soon). So I don't know if the spray is the bomb, but the roll-on is!
Top notes: bergamot, lavender. The opening is not even very alcoholic, but already very spicy. Bergamot and lavender I could not untangle, the fragrance is immediately very aromatic.

The leather comes to the Oberlfäche and disturbs at first and scratchy. The "masculine" or typical for men's fragrances (iris) comes to the fore, which I like very much as a feminine woman (since "men's fragrances" have more Wumms than floral-fruity "women's fragrances"). This scent is not one dimensional. It still scratches a little, but not unpleasant.

In the end, you're left with an amber/oud note that smells very sophisticated and makes a definite statement. What does this remind me of? I have to try the fragrance again and again and come on it: even if you know it here much better than I, but I have Chanel's "Coromandel" EDP and compare both. The Zara one on the left, the super expensive Chanel one on the right. Chanel scratches a little more, but they end up so similar that I almost euphorically start a Zara order. I can barely tell the difference there, Chanel is a little greener, scratchier. But several times I try it. This czara scent reminds me so much that I can barely tell the difference. The base stays for hours and is vanilla, deep. Not cheap at all. What a discovery.

If Coromandel - this still too grown-up for me hammer fragrance - times empty, I buy it after. But the Zaraduft must me in the house. Absolutely class, I'm flashed!

Song: David Lynch something soundtrack, just great. Very good sillage, clearly smellable. For me, almost more wearable into the fall. Statement. Joy!

A masterpiece
I bought this perfume after one of my favorite youtubers made a video about it and noticed a similarity to Dior Homme perfume. To my shame, I have to confess that I'm a big fan of the iris note and almost all the fragrances I own build on it or at least contain it.
Currently, as far as I know, the perfume is available in very few Zara stores and you have to order it, which is no shame, but still a bit of a shame as you have to buy it more or less blind.
But now to the fragrance: the fragrance opens in my opinion with a chocolate note, which seems to be quite bitter. It then continues with bergamot and lavender. Can I personally only faintly perceive, but it is worth mentioning that the fragrance has a certain freshness.

After 5 at the latest 10 minutes, the scent becomes very leather-dominant. I would advise against this fragrance if you can't do anything with the leather note. The leather note also lasts very long and actually stays until the end. After half an hour, the scent becomes surprisingly powdery-leathery, which I find very very pleasant. This is then also more or less the fragrance that you will smell throughout the day, with a certain sweetness to the dry-down added.

In my personal opinion, the perfume smells really great! A very noble fragrance that does not smell like everyone and is excellent for all seasons, times the summer excluded.

Differences to DHP: Bergamot & Leather Spritz is definitely not as "dark" as the DHP. In addition, in my opinion, the iris note is not as prominent here, rather stays in the background and gives a nice touch. Also, I feel that B&L Spritz smells more leathery than Dior Homme perfume.

Sillage: The fragrance has a really good sillage. You can perceive the fragrance 3-4 hours really good (1-1.5 meters around you) and that despite the mask!!! You have to be careful in warm weather, because he can be very penetrating and you can quickly annoy yourself or the people around you.

Durability: The durability is really surprisingly good, especially if you consider that this is a Zara fragrance, which usually do not do very well when it comes to produce long-lasting fragrances. I would estimate the longevity to be a good 8 hours, where even after 8 hours it is the case that you can smell it on your clothes and near your body. So really a great performance here.

The price is with 26€ really very good, almost cheap, because the perfume smells really very high quality and has been composed by Jo Malone.

A Prodigious Medicinal Ointment
There are plenty of leather nuances in the perfumery world, ranging from the smooth suede glows to the rugged leather boots. These notes can take on different facets: smoky, tarry, burnt, or even shades of licorice. More Masculine rather than feminine, wild or refined, powerful but also delicate. Yet leather has linked its animal smell for centuries to the history of perfumery. Suppose the city of Grasse in France, famous for its tanners, soothes the invasive and nauseating scents of leathers with floral essences. In that case, it is in Russia that the history of leather and perfumery takes us. Russian cavalry and dancers will inspire many noses with the smell of their waxed boots. Russian soldiers and dancers of the time made their precious shoeshine and waterproof thanks to various essences. Birch and styrax, with hints of smoke, tar, and notes of tobacco and licorice, perfumed the boots of these gentlemen. However, the intense and relentless smokiness of birch is the vital ingredient, the odour that gives the Russian skin its characteristic smell.

Returning to the topic of Bergamot & Leather Spritz, the first time I smelled this perfume, I was thrilled. Without a doubt, if they did not print the ZARA brand on it, it could very well be mistaken for a niche perfume. It is dark, hypnotic, smoky, and animalistic leather. The kind you only encounter in cult masterpieces such as Ombré Leather (2018) Eau de Parfum, Guilty Absolute pour Homme, or Hypnotic Leather. If the leather family has ended up disappearing, and in these days and has instead become only an olfactory facet, here we have an agreement and a core of dominance of raw leather, that of saddles for riding. And Jo Loves, aka Jo Malone, has done a fantastic job here. I strongly advise you to check it on your skin because the strip of paper releases only the tip of the iceberg; the essence releases many shades warming up with the skin, which are not perceived by the cold blotter.

First things first, I get licorice, birch tar, kind of musty, woody vibe, a bit of a fumy to it. The lavender, dark and wild, hay-like, I would say, blends with bergamot and smoky birch, resulting in a soothing and medicinal aroma—a prodigious medicinal ointment redolence. For an instant, I smell the oud from the base notes, slightly therapeutic with iodine and peaty aspects.

This fragrance pursues dry and warm, and when the heart approaches, the leather is the primary star. A powdery orris oozes and goes side by side with the leather, not a lipstick kind, but something with smoldering edges. Dusty and smoky whiff of iris infuses leather, like charcoal crumbs aroma.

When the essence chills out, the initial punch of medicinal leather softens, moves in the back, but does not disappear. The oud enters the game playing with the amber. I do not get a nasty oud, nor a too sweet or salty amber. They tune the former ideally not to overwhelm but to add subtle texture to everything. The overall redolence remains warm, cosy, sexy.

That’s my journey with Bergamot & Leather Spritz. The performances are superb, with several hours of amusement on my skin and clothes. The essence goes well with fall months, or better, it is a fall in a bottle. Day or night does not matter, inoffensive at work but captivating at night out. I want my jacket to smell like that. Pity Lagavulin Scotch whiskey, a burnt rawhide, drenched in smoke and alcohol. I want more of this. This is a ZARA rare gem, which is part of the Rain collection, n°2. It is a limited edition, and I doubt you will find it around.

And you, did you already know this fragrance? What do you think?

I base the review on a 90ml bottle I have owned since August 2021.

A rare stunner from Zara ( ⚆ _ ⚆ )
Apart from its popular current association with Dior's Homme Parfum (which I personally can't confirm), this has got to be one of the best fragrances that Zara has ever released. In fact, if you lined up 10-20 seasoned fragrance professionals/critics in a row and had them sniff this fragrance blindly, I would be willing to bet that NOT A SINGLE ONE would guess that it came from the popular Spanish designer.

Years ago, before the country exclusives line or brilliant collaboration with Jo Malone, Zara was known to take "inspiration" from popular designer fragrances and turn them into bargain alternatives for the common consumer. However, in recent years, I've been noticing that more and more of their releases were starting to smell eerily similar to more expensive, niche scents ala Tom Ford, Kilian Paris, Parfums de Marly and Mancera. Heartened by this turn of events, I've been keeping a vigilant eye out for another fantastic release that would renew my hope in the brand's unpredictably revolving repetoire. And lo and behold, I found one.

From the first spray, it's absolutely a trip to the Jo Malone section of the niche boutique. No designer vibe here. Not a trace of bergamot despite the name, but a heady, almost powdery, liquid amber and perfumey iris opening. Very quickly though, the iris disappears and the oud comes out to play - and it's oh so slightly medicinal. Ditto with a bare-bones leather accord that's clearly made from labdanum, but blends so well with the oud that it's magical. And here's the kicker - nothing about this scent is heavy, dense, exceedingly rich or cloying, making it great for just about any season of the year.

But without a doubt, my favourite part is how the accords meld into a single waft of what can only be described as a sticky and salty honey dribbling over the outside of a leather purse. Nothing too animalic or overtly leathery like Tom Ford's Tuscan Leather, but certainly rougher than a suede jacket. If you've ever smelled Kilian's Back to Black, it's a very similar honey accord, albeit significantly and deliciously diluted. What a great balance, and absolutely, 100% unisex. The down side - if you were looking for an iris-dominant fragrance ala DH/DHI, this ain't it. Best go with the original 9.0.

The only thing that perplexes me a bit about B&LS, is the non-uniform projection. At 2 inches, it's poetry. Salty honeyed leather with an indistinct floral somewhere in the background. At a foot, the leather is signifcantly less prominent and the honey becomes a very thin sweet amber. At an arm's length and beyond, the leather is nowhere to be found, and the amber is about all that I can detect. I suppose this is characteristic of the materials used? I dunno. All I know is that I friggin' enjoy the stuff. And yeah, I've gotten more than one comment about its potency from across the room (it'll blast for about an hour), but I wouldn't classify it as beastmode. On the contrary, after the first hour, the bulk of the scent stays within a good bubble and lasts on me for 9 hours plus. Good luck washing it off after 5 hours. Nuh-uh. Excellent performance for Zara fragrance.

All that's left to say is that I'm terribly disappointed that it's going to get axed and will likely never come back. But if it, or something similar DOES manage to make a triumphant comeback (I'm looking at you Zara ಠ_ಠ ), please please please fix the crappy atomizer. Reminds me of the one on Proraso's Wood and Spice that gives out a dismal little puff with no control over the amount. Everything else is fine - the bottle, the cap, the packaging, the price and most of all, the scent.

As a loyal supporter of great budget fragrances, it would be a shame if burgeoning enthusiasts were bereft of an opportunity to experience something of this caliber at this price point. Stunning value. And with the general designer market tanking day by day, I'm very much hoping that the trend of higher quality releases from Zara continues. Because it's stuff like THIS that gives me hope. Well done.

An extraordinary perfume!
Here is an example of a perfume that I love with passion, but I practically don't use. Not even in winter. My bottle has very little free space, to show how little I used it.

Like Dior Fahrenheit, he's kind of hard to "fit". Not that there's any specific occasion or any nonsense like that, but he's a guy who gives you a "down" after a while. I think it's a super linear perfume, "solid" and very, very present.

It's not challenging, it's not controversial. It has a measured leather, with a floral, woody and powdery load as we see in many out there and the oud is something very much to the taste of the designer perfume consumer, in other words, it doesn't smell like oud - just like Dior Homme Parfum . A little sniff in the spray bottle every now and then kills the urge.

Monster performance. Fixes immensely on the skin, projects incredibly, stays on clothes week after week (sometimes it takes a second shower to get out of the skin permanently). I don't know what kerosene they use here, but it's intense.

An extraordinary perfume for those who like fragrance with presence. Well done Zara!

The very best perfume of Zara so far.
Unavailable at all Zara stores, at Ebay too, and seems to be impossible to get one.

Other "in your face" from Zara to designers houses. Great unisex profumo with DHI inspiration and Jo Malone's good job. Long for 12 hours.
