Expectations VS Reality
So now it goes Reflection 45 to the collar :)

I was always a fan of Reflection Man and wanted to buy me a bottle again, as I learned that this extrait version should appear. My eyes shone not bad.

Full of anticipation I started a sharing and many dear Parfumus / Parfumas made with. 450€ changed hands and I was still happy.

What were my expectations now? An Ombre Nomade or Nouveau Monde, but just as Reflection Man a strong radiant fragrance, power without end, wonderfully composed and simply sets a statement! And not only strikes me and delighted!

The package from Oman arrived quickly and without problems. I pulled out my sharp pocket knife and carefully opened the package! The packaging is the standard Amouage packaging, but the bottle is a poem, for me quite easy the most beautiful bottle I have.

Sublime he stands there, typical amouage, and in addition the color games of the reflections, just great! The sides are vaporized with a chrome layer. In addition, the loop around the neck, So the detail richness and the execution is excellent!

Magnet cap off and the first spray, hmm interesting, tangier, spicier than the original. It smells wonderful. The cardamom is dominant there for me. It is joined by some pepper and lavender. And only very light floral notes, round out the whole thing. (However, without these metallic floral notes the reflection you have made so unique)

Overall, much less floral, not as sweet and clean. It seems much more masculine and adult, also a bit edgier, not as round and soft as the original.

The opening is really great made! And also sets off very clearly from the original.

The fragrance becomes a little sweeter and powdery (vanilla, iris)
as it progresses Woods are added also the incense is wonderful to recognize. Vetiver puts the composition its I dot on, with its light fruity note, overall very intense and very very nice!

A great fragrance! The drydown is my clear favorite. Wonderful!

You could smell it for hours! Can you fortunately also, because the durability is very good, from the fragrance alone he is clearly in my top 10!

But now we open times the eyes and come together to reality!

The sillage is worse than the original! We are talking about 450€ for 100ml! He smells absolutely wonderful, no question, but this is so disappointing to me. Extrait or not. Then I would have preferred an Edp!

How does Louis Vuitton create such strong fragrances like Ombre Nomade or Nouveau Monde?
Which smell wonderful, with a great progression and wonderful notes that can make a lasting statement. A fragrance that remains in memories! And fills rooms. That's what I expect at least in this price segment.

Amouage delivers here indeed a fragrance that is without a doubt just as beautiful as the above, but unfortunately became as fleeting as the moment that just passed.... (unless you press the nose on the skin flat, then you have longer what of it)

An olfactory snack, so you could describe it. Superbly arranged no question, but that's not quite enough for me, unfortunately!
If you revive perhaps the most famous Amouage fragrance, then you can expect the complete package.

It would have been preferable to me, he would not be so beautiful, then the disappointment would also not be so big just. And as is often the case, this sentence from my best friend is also true.... EXPECT NOTHING, THEN YOU WILL NEVER BE DISAPPOINTED :)

It is a fragrance for you, others will not be able to perceive him, at least by far not as you would wish. Maybe he should also be exactly like that? One does not know!

What I can tell you, however, it is a beautiful fragrance with a unfortunately much too weak sillage, and if you like reflection, you will also love this one. Whether it is worth it, however, you must decide for yourself!

Thanks for reading.

LG Deniz.

The search continues :)

Addendum to the durability after a total of 3 days and 3 tests, it is very good, you can smell the scent even loose 12H later on the skin. And he still smells wonderful.

The sillage is quite ok for about 1h, but after that he becomes much too quickly a skin scent on me. There was even a great compliment at the gas station, 45 min after spraying on.

Another hour later, a friend, on my demand, could not smell it (1m-1,5m distance), he did not notice the scent. And he usually comments on all my perfumes.

The Elder
Coincidentally, I learned about this release in the ticker!

So Interlude 53 is followed by three more well-known fragrances whose concentrations have again been raised significantly: "Epic 56 Woman", "Honour 43 Woman" and "Reflection 45 Man".

These are by the way the official titles of the fragrances. Surprised me that the otherwise prevailing research standards so were not taken up and waved through, but be it - another topic.

Reflection 45. in my review of Interlude 53 I spoke of it being a new concentration and Amouage corresponds with its new Definiton: "Exceptional Extrait". If we keep in mind that the fragrances from the house declared as "EDP" consistently have about 20% - 25% high fraction of fragrance oil, then we are talking either way about "perfume / extract". Here you can really praise Amouage, because they declare lower than they could and but offer higher. In the designer segment, this is yes gladly often lived the other way around.

The "45" in the name stands again for the percentage of fragrance oils in this perfume and probably the maximum amount that could be achieved in the production and is still within certain "Anti Allergens Standards".

For classification Amouage represents the beautiful on its own homepage:

Eau de Cologne (EDC) 3% - 10% oils
Eau de Toilette (EDT) 5% - 15% oils
Eau de Parfum (EDP) 15% - 20% oils
Perfume / Extrait 20% - 30% oils
Amouage Reflection 45 Man - 45% oils

The maturation process of the first batch is 10 weeks of maturation + 6 weeks of maceration, meaning that in total the process was extended to 4 months.

For explanation:

Maturation = maturation of the fragrance concentrate before adding alcohol.
Maceration = maturation of the finished mixture, so after adding alcohol.

Unlike Interlude 53, the DNA has been greatly altered by the addition of some new ingredients on paper. But do not be fooled by this, because anyone who knows the original Reflection will recognize it immediately after spraying.
In comparison, however, interpreted decidedly darker and without a joyful smile.
Especially at the beginning I get lavender and at the same time it is strongly powdery in the perception what I really like!
It is spicier than the original, but still retains its balsamic soft warmth and I can't detect any particularly sweet, resinous or smoky touches that make it stand out aggressively. He carries his original bloom with him and remains very soothing in the further development and quietly fades away little by little.
The gentle embrace of fresh, buttery flowers is no longer as loving as it once was. Nevertheless, I find it a decidedly harmonious and round fragrance.

The increased concentration creates in conjunction with the changed DNA a mature alternative, which is definitely worth testing, but the honest look in the mirror reveals one thing above all:
He's gotten older. This does not make him worse per se, because after 14 years it is natural to evolve. Also with us.

Finally, one last note:

The fragrance becomes incredibly quiet after a relatively short time. I have rarely experienced this and it is too pronounced for my taste. Yes, we are talking about an in the core extract and that usually brings this concentration. That's perfectly fine and especially true for those who may wonder about it after testing. Not every fragrance needs or wants to be a screamer and I'm sure that wasn't a primary goal in making this fragrance, hence the friendly thought provoking not to discredit perfumes and especially him here right away because of it.
I wish you a fragrant pleasure in testing!

A true powerhouse
I myself have worn the "normal" version of Amouage Reflection for years and always tried to get the variant from Doha, as this has been somewhat more potent compared to the version from UK. Unfortunately, however, I then found that the sillage after 4-5 hours was actually no longer perceptible and I have perceived the fragrance only as Skin Scent.

Everything changed with the Reflection 45 version. The durability and sillage are very impressive with me and hold at least 9-10 hours. Unfortunately, you can not spray this fragrance on clothes, otherwise there are nasty stains, which then also can not be washed out so easily. The scent always reminds me of a bathtub filled with lots of foam. I have rarely worn a fragrance that has brought me so many compliments and at the same time so many facets rise. At the beginning, the fragrance is difficult for me to compare with the standard variant. It has a much stronger effect. I notice clearly pepper and lavender until the beautiful tonka bean comes out more and more. Simply wonderful and one of the most beautiful autumn fragrances that exist in my view

FANTASTIC!!
I am an enthusiastic Amouage loyalist, and I found this “on sale” for $400. It was a choice between this one and Interlude 53, and I chose this one.

This is definitely fuller, richer, and thicker than the original version. A louder and stronger scent, that only projects to a roughly 2ft radius, with a sillage trail that lingers nicely. You have to get in close, but it does mark where you’ve been. It also lasts over 8hours as far as longevity goes.

If you like the original, you will love how this one smells.

Is it worth $500 though? Honestly, I would say no. Does that mean I regret buying it, or dislike it? Nope. Hell, I’m probably going to buy the Interlude 53 as well. I’m just saying it is overpriced.

Honestly I say all frags that exceed $200 are overpriced. But so are video games, fine wines, and women's purses. It’s a hobby. I enjoy collecting them, and I will foolishly overpay for all of my favorite brands of scents.

Again. This is FANTASTIC in my opinion. I love the original; this one amplifies all of my favorite aspects of it, and outperforms it in longevity. I do wish it projected more, but when you have higher degrees of concentration, you lose projection. That’s an unfortunate fact. It DOES leave a thick sillage trail behind though, and no one else smells like I do when I sport this.

When you start looking at frags that cost this much, and consider buying them, you’re an addict, and you’re GOING TO overpay, period. No 100ml glass bottle of smelly oils is worth $200+. Will you admit it to yourself? That’s the question. I admit it, and I’m going to proudly waste more money on more frags, so I can enjoy my time on sites like this with people like you.

Cheers!

Worthy upgrade?
First of all, I will say it from the beginning - this is a concentration variant for Eau de Parfum Reflection Man so do not expect a new Scent DNA to be found into this flanker.

Many Parfumos, myself included have wished for a better performing RM EDP because the nice floral notes and the very fresh and clean impression the clary sage, neroli and Jasmin are giving is really addictive. Then Reflection 45 comes along and my first impression was .. yeah, this will be a performance beast like Interlude 53 which you then need to scrape of your skin if you want it removed.

The Amouage "pre-order" marketing policy works well, the website was filled with sharings, I think over 10 within hours .. so the hype is there.

Now to the Extrait, which I tested today:

- It starts with strong Lavender, almost fougere like and in the first tens of minutes it seems to have a different DNA than RM EDP.
- It dries down nicely and the Lavender gets toned down and the nice Neroli with Jasmin from EDP come to life.
- It has low silage and projection, with a spray from the Glass Sprayer it is not noticeable at all unless you rub your nose to the skin. EDP has a better projection IMO.
- After about four hours it is still quite strong on the skin, maybe sprayed from the bottle and on clothes would really have a better silage.

If you expect an improved Reflection Man, I am not sure R45 will deliver that. If you want to have the beautiful smell of RM for longer present on your shirt or clothes, maybe the R45 can do that for you .. but also spraying more EDP will give you the same effect.

Maybe this is a marketing stunt to refresh the image of Reflection Man overall and that is bold from Amouage to do. I saw these days that many famous Perfumers were invited to Oman for leisure, hopefully this will bring new creations too.

Given the identical scent DNA = with the Reflection Man EDP prices between 160-200€/$/GBP for 100ml I see it difficult for the Extrait to have any success, not at 450€.

Original Reflection man is 10/10 for me. This is 6/10 at best. Stick with the original. This smells darker and resinous almost medicinal.
