Layers of plum, vanilla, spices and tobacco
Arabesque starts out like a spiced plum liqueur, very juicy and lush with lots of cinnamon and a hint of ginger. So at first I had no idea why people would find this similar to Tobacco Vanille of all things, but after a few moments I understood. Underneath the boozy plum lies the familiar waxy base of vanilla, tonka bean and a smidgen of sweet pipe tobacco that TV is famous for.
They're not the same though. Arabesque is more sparkling and lively, less dense and only about half as waxy. Where TV showcase aromatic notes, this has fruits and spices. I always found TV more masculine leaning, Arabesque on the other hand is a true unisex fragrance that can easily be worn by people with feminine tastes. And it has lots of layers to discover. Sometimes I get some fluffy musk, sometimes I sense a benzoin note that feels almost like caramel... The scent takes you on a journey and doesn't stay the same.
Even though this isn't something I would buy for myself, I like it a lot.
In my opinion this is 100% a scent for the cold seasons. Autumn, Christmas time, the coldest days of January and February, it all works. I can't imagine picking this in spring or summer, no matter how cool and rainy it is, it wouldn't feel right.
