EDP vs. Extrait / Comparisons to Carlisle and Herod / Do we need you? / Master and are you really the best release of 2023?
Hello everyone,

yes, I promised that I would write the review this weekend and here it is, but beware, it might be a bit longer!

EDP vs. extrait:

I tested the EDP a lot - why? I found it somehow beautiful and also almost somehow unique, BUT in the end it was too sweet (peach, saffron) and too generic and too little rough edges and too little tobacco. Shortly after the release I tested it by chance - why? I had a very small sample as a supplement here in the souk (max. 0.6ml) and I was hooked.

In order to test it for days (like now) I was practically missing the filling quantity and yes, I fell in love with the fragrance and found one here in the souk with a filling level of around 82% - bought it.

I didn't really know how it performed or what exactly the performance said.... i have (honestly) seen the rating here, but if you have less than 10 ratings (at that time), then I find it very difficult to take that as an accurate reference...

And I told myself that if it was at least at the level of the EDP, everything would be cool!
Performance (H/S):

It was far different from the normal Triumph of Bacchus Eau de Parfum, which was good and the sillage was pleasant and yes it was also very well received..., but the Triumph of Bacchus Extrait de Parfum really outperforms the EDP more than discreetly...

I find the sillage extremely good (really!) it is almost at the level of Oud Satin Mood Extrait de Parfum or Nefs and those who know both know very well what kind of sillage monsters they are. So subtle is different!

About the durability - it varies depending on the temperature, BUT it is ALWAYS in the range of 12h to 16h. Nevertheless, I don't want to give a 10/10 here, but only (!) a 9/10, because I also know 24h fragrances and I personally only give a 10/10 from 20h.

Do you need it?

Ultimately, the answer is very modest. If you already have the EDP yourself, then NO, not necessarily. However, if you don't have it and like this scent (like me), then I would say YES! I myself am a great friend of Vanille Havane Eau de Parfum and if you know it and add Red Tobacco and the normal EDP, the Triumph of Bacchus Eau de Parfum, then you indirectly have the fragrance!
Comparisons to Carlisle and Herod, justified?

Let me put it this way, some people know my LOVE for PDM (be it my reviews of many fragrances or my blog entry - recommendation) and know why I have slowly turned my back on the house.... - it's the batches (among others) and YES another reason is the Triumph of Bacchus Extrait de Parfum !

Why?

For me, it's a fusion of Carlisle, Herod and Triumph of Bacchus Extrait de Parfum and I'm so happy with the combination that I've given them both away! This smoky and creamy sweetness in combination with the special aura that surrounds you creates something..., I can hardly put it into words...

I have now worn it 4x at work, 2x at the weekend (outside, restaurant, for example) and I have never had/experienced a fragrance with which I have received so much feedback (no fun!).

Are you the best release of 2023?

Of course, it's always very difficult to decide whether something is THE BEST. For me, yes! We had some very viable new fragrances in 2023, such as the Althaïr , Erba Gold , Le Mâle Elixir etc. and yes those are good and no question about that, but for me the Triumph of Bacchus Extrait de Parfum is the best so far for the year 2023!
In itself I can say (summarized) - it is a masterpiece and this on the border to the beast, extremely high quality tuned, perfectly unisex wearable (tendency male), noble and a wearable creamy, smoky gourmand from September to May (or on summer evenings too) - my recommendation!
Very briefly on the subject of OVP, bottle, sprayer:

I'll make it short 10 out of 10 in each category and I know very well that tastes are very different. Anyone who (of the 3 things) doesn't rate a 9 or 10 "THIS IS A FULL SPRINT AGAINST THE REFRIGERATOR", so quite honestly, leather OVP, full metal lid, cool timeless flacon design.... so I find it very difficult to rate it differently and I'm not saying this because I like a brand or not!

And now, almost finally, to the point about the "dear price", let me put it this way: if we say we have a certain desire for luxury products / fragrance products in the niche sector, then I find it difficult or quite honestly almost pointless to chalk this up as something negative. Nobody is forcing us to spend this money. If you ask me now: Benny is it worth it? Then I say, if you want to spend it, test it and then buy it, but I recommend everyone to test it! You just have to experience it - the art of what is / can be possible.

Now on the subject of luxury:

As you can see in my profile as you can see in my profile, I have really smelled many fragrances and there are fragrances where you smell a certain (partly) strong synthetic and you notice quite quickly that some fragrance houses go for quantity rather than quality and there are some where you just realize "oh come on we'll put more + better in" and you can smell this at the end of the day and at the end of the chain is the Triumph of Bacchus Extrait de Parfum - but when I write here you notice the quality, then this doesn't even begin to do it justice.

My personal opinion (!), you have to reach this level first. Is more luxury possible? I don't know, it will definitely be difficult - as far as LUXURY is concerned, the feeling here is BENCHMARK! (In the creamy, soft, slightly sweet and smoky range)

Now something brief on the subject of my opinion:

I am not sponsored, influenced by anyone, receive money or anything else. I approach the subject of parfumo as I am, honestly, everything else is not mine. My real personal opinion is worth a lot to me and maybe I hope ;) that you notice that. If I don't like something, e.g. OVP, bottle, sprayer or H/S, then I communicate this too!
LG, the Benny ;)

Better than the EdP?
The EdP of Triumph of Bacchus is in my opinion one of the most beautiful fragrances for winter and co.
That's why I had to test the extrait! Overall, it seems more balanced and a little less sweet, which makes it a little more suitable for everyday wear.
However, this can also vary from day to day, so that a real difference is sometimes hardly noticeable. However, the durability and sillage are slightly better.

For me personally, Triumph of Bacchus Extrait de Parfum is not worth the extra charge in direct comparison to Triumph of Bacchus Eau de Parfum.
But both highly recommended!

More subtle, more harmonious, softer than its big brother
It is not uncommon for the extrait versions to be more sophisticated, more refined, more subtle, simply more mature than the previously launched 'standard' release. This is also the case here with Triumph of Bacchus Extrait de Parfum.

Of course you can go straight for the extrait based on various statements, reviews and recommendations, but in my opinion it makes sense to have tested the eau de parfum of Triumph of Bacchus Eau de Parfum beforehand or at the same time.

While the EdP immediately shouts out loudly with its top notes: 'I am the King of Boozy', its small but fine brother is a little more discreet and quickly brings a fine (pipe) tobacco note into play, which displaces the first thought of alcohol abuse with the 'big brother'.

Those who naturally like it 'loud' and want to stand out at all costs are better served with the EdP. However, those who value the virtues of a gentleman who sets himself apart in a different way would be better off digging a little deeper into their pockets and opting for the Extrait.

The longevity and sillage could certainly be better for a fragrance in this price range, at least in my experience and assessment, but it is still worth it to ME.
You can spray more until your partner politely tells you that you've had enough :)

I certainly don't regret having waited a good three weeks for the fragrance from the moment I ordered it. The outer packaging, the entire presentation and the bottle are a feast for the eyes and go very well with this release.

In any case, both versions are worth testing and are also recommended in the price range.

The god with the lucky touch
Bacchus, the god of wine, fertility and ecstasy, sits as usual with the gods at the table of Olympus.
The feast, as usual, is standard for Bacchus, he just pours the wine into himself and has a good time with the gods.
In a frenzy, dessert arrives, everyone gets exactly what they want and for Bacchus it's fruit.
His favorite fruit is the apple and peach, perfectly served in bite-sized slices, he raises his glass full of wine, mumbles to the crowd, laughs and drinks it down in one go.
Half his plate already finished and his mouth full of fruit, he shouts loudly "Where's my wine?" after all, he asked for a refill 5 minutes ago.
Annoyed, he reaches for his neighbor's glass and starts to drink, drinks, drinks more, puts it down and puts the glass in the light.
He freezes for a moment and looks at the liquid, starts to grin and downs the last sip of rum.
Louder than before, he shouts in ecstasy "Bring me some more of this deliciousness!"
He jumps up and raises his glass to the crowd, the loud laughter of his friends echoes through Olympus and even Bacchus can no longer hold back his laughter.
His stomach aching with laughter, he sits down and admires his latest discovery, the rum he never tasted and the last pieces of apple and peach.
As full of intoxication as he was, he decided to enjoy the next bites and sips in all their glory.

When I smell the Triumph of Bacchus Extrait de Parfum I get exactly these images in my head, now is there anything else to add?

Yes, there is, in my opinion it is a fragrance to fall in love with.

It lives from the rum, it's like when you open a fresh bottle of rum and you get the sweet alcoholic touch, but NOT unpleasant, quite the opposite.
It's sweet, but not too sweet and slightly smoky... i love it.
The fruits are perfectly balanced, I smell the peach more than the apple, but I think I can smell a corpse of acidity, it rounds off this fragrance so damn well.

The Triumph of Bacchus Extrait de Parfum starts fruity, with a lot of power as the first thing you think WOW, but at the same time how well tuned it is.
You stand out with it, you notice it and anyone wearing it should be aware of that.
In my opinion it is rather masculine (due to this "light" alcoholic touch), but women can and should also rock this fragrance, if YOU like it, wear it!

I have a few words about the drydown, as fruity and sweet as it starts, it stays that way, because the fragrance lives from the top notes.
After a while, the intensity of the sweetness subsides, which gives it all a creaminess, and this vanilla comes in slightly, very slightly and just wants to say "hello"... i can't stop raving about it. :)

About the durability and the bottle, with second and third opinions included, the fragrance lasts 10-15h.
What is there to say about the bottle, not much except that it is a 10/10! :)

The price, on the official website of Argos Fragrances, is the equivalent of US dollars at 317.95€ which is without question, a lot of money.
Is the price justified, I think it is.
If you are willing to pay the price, I have a little tip for you, with the code "CHECKOUT15" (as of today it still works) you can save 15% on your entire order at checkout.
But PLEASE, test it before you regret it. :)

Final words, for me personally the Triumph of Bacchus Extrait de Parfum is a masterpiece and has more than earned my first review here on Parfumo!
I hope I can help people who want to get a better idea of the fragrance with my review.

Silky-soft Caribbean
The Caribbean is calling.
Do you hear it?

You are sometimes unexpectedly gripped by the feeling of being swept away to a place, all because of a scent.

Well, you get that feeling here too, just not as expected.

A whirlpool of ecstasy takes hold of the nose and sinks it into a barrel full of rum and fruity liqueurs.

The expectations of the fruit should not be exaggerated here.
Peach and apple are not overt or identifiable, more as an accompaniment to the rum.

Rum and saffron are dominant in the top note, sweet and creamy; strongly comparable to "Initio - Side Effect", especially since I own both fragrances, it was possible for me to compare and here the similarity is very great.

The tobacco from the base note accompanies the rum with fruit in an almost Caribbean way that makes you imagine sitting in a wet, cold cellar in Havana while the rum is poured for you while someone rolls a cigar next door.

To the knowledgeable or inquisitive among you, the painting of the Triumph of Bacchus also perfectly embodies the scent, but the scent is of less volume than the painting, it is quieter, due to the creaminess, and does not seem like such a large gathering of people.

So, is the place to which the scent takes you the painting of the Triumph of Bacchus or Havana in Cuba?
Well, the Caribbean is much fruitier, but it lacks some of the fruitiness.
And the painting is loud and full of ecstasy, where the booziness of the fragrance fits well.

The fragrance embodies what it promises, but you should not pay attention to the Parfumo ratings for durability and sillage, I think these are significantly worse in real life.

I'm quite generous with 8 for sillage and longevity, could also go towards 7 for me.
