A herb meadow in the mist - farewell to the Hawaiian rainforest
A clear water, fresh, herbal, a little smoky, tart, a cloud of vegetation carried in by the damp mist, united in a bouquet that has been living together here for weeks and has formed a harmonious neighborhood. I detect mint, some citrus, vetiver, which makes it round and fine. What else? Clary sage, ylang-ylang and patchouli are not yet apparent to my untrained nose. Bergamot is the citrus blossom. This bouquet is delicious, fine, unobtrusive, smells of warm, moist wood, invigorating, refreshing. I have set off on a hike into the rainforest, it is still damp but warm, the wild plants release their sound notes into the light and the sun, they dance with each other, embrace and kiss and fly away. I hold my nose close to the mint, then to a flower with long yellow hanging petals that smells sweet and slightly woody. In the shade on the forest floor is a sturdy shrub with spikes of hairy, delicate purple flowers that smell earthy and sweet at the same time. And there I make out the resinous-sweet clary sage. Like a bee, I move from flower to leaf to blossom to bark, feasting on the green, tart, balsamic aroma. The moisture on my face smells fresh, I sit down on a root, place my hands on the barely damp earth and inhale deeply.
On the fifth day of my olfactory hiking package Hawaii trip, I keep sniffing the tangy, fresh bunch of herbs on my hand. It calms me and makes me happy at the same time on this New Year's Day, so the new year promises abundance and substance, lightness and warmth.
Noē Noē - Grounded Serenity is the No.5 of the Eaux de Parfum by Aloha Senses. "Noé Noé" is Hawaiian and means "mist in the rainforest". This is how I imagine the scent of a humid rainforest, more herbaceous and less earthy than the local one, more flowery and impenetrable, the woods greener. Together with No.4, No.5 is out in the wilderness, No.1-3 are more floral and even woodier fragrances that give me a friendly welcome and nourishing closeness. In addition to creating fragrances for our beauty, Aloha Senses' mission is to convey the nature and culture of Hawaii in a sustainable way using only natural essences. I have already mentioned this in the other reviews and also referred to the very informative website in this regard. However, I will repeat once again for those who may not know that natural essences work differently to synthetic ones, they do not smell the same on every skin and they do not work as long, you have to re-spray them. The care taken in production and the individual touch justify the price.
similar to Keanu - Sensitive Vagabond, Noē Noē - Grounded Serenity has less sillage than Honi - Narcotic Kiss and "Amber - Warm Embrace | Aloha Senses Perfumes". "Mana - Luxurious Glow | Aloha Senses Perfumes" is in between. Noē Noē - Grounded Serenity lasts a little longer than Keanu - Sensitive Vagabond. However, the latter fragrances stay on the skin and allow for lasting intimate pleasure. So I can keep myself alert and motivated throughout the day and just enjoy it, this one is stimulating like green tea, which I don't like drinking that much, but sniffing it is a pleasure.
The epithet "Grounded Serenity" fits for me, the fragrance is grounding and makes you feel light and happy at the same time. "Both feet firmly on the moist, warm earth" is what I read on the website, that's how I perceived it.
Aloha Senses wants to create fragrances for all genders and encourages you to be guided by your own nose and not by gender attributions.
I feel spring and summer in Noē Noē - Grounded Serenity, it is full of green freshness, unfolded plant power and fine blossom.
During my walk, I cheated a little and described plants that I had only seen on the internet for my own knowledge and that may not smell the same in the wild. Here's the solution for newbies like me: the small yellow flower with the long hanging petals, sweet and woody-scented, is ylang-ylang, the delicate purple hairy flower spikes, with a sweet and earthy aroma, are supposed to be patchouli.
I really enjoyed the Hawaiian journey with the special, well-composed fragrances that tell of foreign worlds and the joy of the Aloha philosophy of life: respect for one another, closeness, integration into nature and connection to the divine world. I got to know the intimacy of the encounter, the radiance that shines from people and creation and the grounding power of the spirits of life. As a farewell, I wave some mist from the rainforest to you and think I should go out now, into the northern German nature of New Year's Day.
