I have to say it upfront: this fragrance is absolutely beautiful!
It's an incredibly complex composition that won my heart from the first sniff. It masterfully intertwines notes I personally adore: I detect an aromatic, subtly smoky tea wrapped in the most delicate suede, giving the entire blend a velvety smoothness. A noble tobacco emerges, paired with the intriguing, unconventional sweetness of fig. This core is surprisingly lifted by an saltiness (reminiscent of a sea breeze?) and a modern, cool metallic touch that lends the composition an intriguing, almost futuristic edge.
You can immediately feel Frank Voelkel's artistry here- this perfumer has an extraordinary talent for working with tobacco, capable of extracting both raw elegance and enveloping comfort from it. This is the second tobacco fragrance of his that has absolutely captivated me, ranking just behind my ultimate benchmark in this category, Le Labo Tabac 28.
The fragrance plays a fascinating game of contrasts, which makes it so intriguing. On one side, it feels luminous and spacious, on the other, it holds a pleasant, enveloping weight that brings comfort. It brilliantly and fluidly merges subtle, sensual femininity with a distinct yet smooth masculine leaning. It manages to be simultaneously casual, comfortable, and perfect for daily wear, while also exuding incredible elegance in an effortless, chic manner.
I perfectly envision it as a companion for summer evenings when the air gets a bit cooler, but also as the ideal scent for the autumn atmosphere, enveloping like the coziest, most luxurious cashmere sweater. It adds confidence, but in a quiet, internal way - this is elegance that doesn't shout.
Finally, I must also mention the presentation - the gorgeous, heavy bottle with a massive cap imitating white marble with black veins is a small masterpiece of functional art. It perfectly reflects the dual, elegant and modern spirit of the fragrance inside. A true ornament for any vanity table.
