The missing link between Haltane and BR540
So I previously mentioned in the Shout-Outs that Cosmos is a Haltane clone. Having sprayed them side-by-side, they are very similar, but definitely not identical.
I've had multiple discussions with people where they absolutely refuse to accept that Oud for Greatness Eau de Parfum and Haltane are based on the Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum DNA though there is scientific GC/MS evidence for this claim; I suggest they try Cosmos. Because Cosmos sits right in the middle of the OFG DNA and the BR540 DNA, with there being a slight added bit of leather.
As for an actual review, it's alright. 80% similar to BR540 with the same "oud" as OFG and a bit of leather (probably saffron aromachems). Has the same absolutely monstrous performance as BR540, surprised the longevity and sillage ratings are as low as they are (8.0 and 7.7 respectively at the time of this review), this lasts 12 hours on me easy and somehow still projects like 8 hours in.
The notes are absolutely hilarious. It's just the BR540 formula (hedione, ethyl maltol, evernyl, ambroxan) plus what I assume is cypriol EO with some cedryl methyl ether or whatever to make a passable "oud," and safraleine for a leather effect; I suppose you can call it metallic too. Dragon's blood? Coal? Cocoa? Orris? Nonexistent.
Might be good for someone looking for a more masculine alternative to BR540, but for someone with either Haltane or Oud for Greatness Eau de Parfum in their collection (which you'd most likely have if you'd like a more masculine BR540, even if you aren't aware of the connection), this is redundant.
