Fizzy fresh sauna woods

Like some other reviewers, I was expecting a heavier scent from Espíritu, given the name, woody bottle cap, and note pyramid. It is a very light version of those woody sauna scents kind of like Hinoki & Cedarwood. Fragrantica users also compared it to Tam Dao Eau de Parfum which I can see. It has a fizzy freshness to it that those fragrances lack though, almost like a 7-Up, Sprite-like quality. There's just something unappealing about the accords in here, I don't know if it's an overdose of some aromachemical I'm not a fan of, or just too synthetic in general. The projection is very low, even directly after spraying, making me think I had gone completely nose blind to something in there, but lasts very long on the skin. The floral accord being rated the highest is very weird, this is definitely not a floral scent. Some iris powderiness complements the woody notes but that's about it. Mostly woody-fresh.

Home?

I am on a hunt for a fragrance that reminds me of what home felt like as a kid. When everything seemed ok. Through my journey I stumbled across espiritu, and although it isn't home for me oh do i find comfort in this scent. I think this is one of the best woody scents I have ever come across. Sillage is low but I think it makes sense for this type of fragrance. Notes do not compete, not overly leathery or tobacco smokey, just a perfect blend of comfort.

Each time I wear this, I have a new experience.
On Tuesday it’s light and I want to spray it 8 times….on Saturday night, it was stronger and only needed two sprays.
The atomizer is top notch.
Top notes of citrus barely speak to me but the iris, carrot, sage and tobacco are so so lovely it’s spiritual.

I honestly cannot say that I discern every note, but this is such a lovely woody perfume, and I’m probably buying a full bottle for my boyfriend soon.

Not a complex scent at all, but I can’t really explain it any other way than a creamy powdery and spicy woody fragrance. But it’s not even like this super masculine, dense wood, it has such a soft and suedy feel to it that carries really nicely in the air.

Edit: Recently bought a full bottle of this along with a bottle of Bois Imperial and we’re thinking they smell very similar!!

clean spiciness without intrusive notes

Espiritu is another favorite of the House-of-Bō line for me, from which I claimed during my first testing that it does not smell like the listed notes - that due to the color of the cap… I expected something denser, heavier…, aaaber this fragrance is actually extremely light, airy and gives me a clean spa feeling, yet with the aspect of a ‘certain something’, while I also perceive subtle leather notes in the background, combined with something spicy, but not intrusive - all notes are overall very well and balanced blended. Important note: low longevity on my skin, well. Espiritu gives me understated vibes of Amouage Guidance, but is milder and a softer blend.
