honour roll
A toile de Jouy citrus rose. Somehow feels both powdery and watery – like a pastel of sunlit waters. Blush pink, lemon yellow, sky blue. An incense-toned floral swirls behind it all. It's pretty, and kinda prim. Reminds me of Liis’s Lucienne, but with a more outspoken rose, or a lower-calorie Byredo Young Rose. Enduring (at least 4h on my skin) for a such a floaty rosewater-lemondrop kind of scent.

Mental Snapshot: The scent of someone who owns a monogrammed bathrobe and never has anything less than freshly-manicured nails. And several millennial pink Zimmermann dresses. They only write in calligraphy.

tl;dr: citrus chintz

Dry Unisex Rose
It opens with a blast of lemon in front of the floral. The lemon dissipates and you can immediately get the rose as well as the incense note.

I really enjoyed this. It's a citrusy, dry rose that is very bright but has a nice background incense note. It's kind of a cool, aloof person's rose and I think this would be great for mascs/men that want something unisex but still a little floral and soft. It's a rare unfussy, casual rose. Dry fragrances aren't usually very appealing to me but I could f with this one. Also how pretty is this bottle?

The performance was a bit of a let down! It didn't last long for me - it was totally gone in 2 hours and was never a strong projector. I want to try this again in the summer when I'm outdoors, though.

Verdict: I'll definitely never get a FB because it's $300+ which is absolutely unhinged but it's definitely good and worth trying. I might add this to my Scentbird queue if the mood strikes me.

A duo of beautiful florals backed by loving notes
Second fragrance from my 2023 ScentXplore box and I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. Unfortunately, House of Bō is difficult to obtain here in Canada and I don't want to deal with tariff and duty costs which is part of the reason why it won't be coming into my collection. I will say I pondered for a while in getting a bottle of it.

The start is juicy, tangy and fresh with the kick of lemon. After it dissipates, I'm already getting a fresh, dewy, youthful rose paired with an equally beautiful peony. Both flowers together give off this fresh, floral with a fruity facet that makes you feel elevated, classy and sophisticated. It's giving effortless, chic and feminine vibes. As it moves on, I do detect a subtle spiciness coming from the vetiver in the back and the ghost of smoky incense-like accord coming in from the frankincense. Both add dimension and depth to the fragrance, without taking away the spotlight from the two beautiful flowers. Drydown becomes muskier with a salty skin drydown (ambergris?) and a remnant of sweet florals.

I will admit the drydown turned me off a bit as I wasn't expecting that sea salt like accord in the drydown. I found it didn't quite fit the theme of the fragrance. The performance is also a bit lacking as it stayed close to my skin. The scent bubble was quite small. It's still an amazing scent and something I do suggest you try out, but since the drydown is less my style and the fragrance is harder to obtain for me, it won't be making it into my collection. Will be enjoying my sample until the end though!

Beautifully Brilliant
Bright. I don’t know another way to describe this. It’s such a bright—not blinding and not saccharine, but somewhere in between—scent. It’s so frickn’ soft, all things considered. I don’t like lemon. It’s sharp and screechy but here? it’s soft, and sweet thanks to all of the other notes. so nicely balanced.

this scent is a bit bright at first spray, but it softens and settles so sweetly. I would 100% buy a larger decant of this. I would be so excited to try it in spring & summer. I’m not sure which season it would complement best.

If the sugarplum fairy wasn’t plummy, she’d be this. I need to sit with this for a while longer to truly parse out how I feel. I was expecting a conflicting sort of complexity and this is not that (complimentarily).

I think my conflict is coming from this — as it dries down, the peony takes a backseat to the rose. This rose is palatable but I am a fan of peony and not a fan of rose. I much preferred the way it smelled initially. I don’t see myself wearing a rose-first fragrance as a signature scent. As light and lovely as this rose may be. I think the skin scent comes forward more after the scent settles and while I like that, it holds more power over the bright, fun flirty fragrance that I loved after the initial spray. So im experiencing conflicting feelings. Nothing about this fragrance is bad. And nothing about it feels basic. But it isn’t the perfect blend for me.

If you weren’t a huge fan of Delina, but wanted something similar that was less loud and cloying, try this. She’s more mature and I don’t mean in age. She stands out because she minds her own business, and she’s gorgeous without making any effort at all. Your perception of her holds no weight. That’s pretty freakin awesome.

This is what rosary smells like, apparently
I have never smelled a rose-scented rosary myself, but I've been told this scent is named correctly. This is one of more pleasant rose scents I tried, it is not strong, it does not offend my nose, it is realistic and a bit watery. The citrus adds a nice touch. For some reason, to me it smells like the rose flower itself with the green parts, sepals and leaves, possibly because of the citrus note. I have a small travel size bottle, and I am happy with it.

Effortless, sophistcated citrus and fresh rose/peony scent with a subtle smokiness. Drydown is more musky and salty due to the ambergris.

Strong rose start, then dries down a bit. Kind of soft vanilla - this is like if by the fireplace was made into a rose but dried down similarly.

Feminine and juicy-sweet with a deeply resinous and sultry base. Bewitch yourself as enchanting and powerful, all in the same perfume.
