Fruitier and punchier than the OG
In Italy, commercial business addresses have their numbers painted in red to identify more easily. 17 Rosso stands for Roberto Ugolini's original business address for his shoemaking business. Its vibrancy is reflected on the bottle.

A powerful fruit punch, "17 Rosso Limited Edition | Roberto Ugolini" stands strong in its raspberry sweet and slightly tartness. This fragrance definitely holds onto some of its original DNA, "17 Rosso | Roberto Ugolini", but it is obviously different to me. Its power is similarly strong and can overpower a room so be careful.

I haven't had the chance to use this in public yet but I find this much easier to wear. It's a great fragrance I can use daily.

The Red Signature on My Skin
I still remember the day I first held the bottle in my hands. This deep, almost velvety red with the golden details didn’t look like a perfume, but like a work of art that should be kept in a display case. Yet something inside me wanted not just to look at it, but to experience it.

When I applied the first spray on my skin, I was immediately surprised. A burst of blackcurrant and raspberry jumped out at me - fruity, lively, almost youthful. I had to smile because it was so different from what I had expected. I thought of summer days, laughter in the twilight, glasses of cold red wine on a terrace.

But the scent changed quickly. The fruitiness gave way to a warmth that I could hardly describe. Honey and leather - a strange but fascinating combination. Suddenly, I found myself in a small workshop in Florence, with dark wood, old tools, and the smell of tanned leather hanging in the air. It felt as if the scent had written a story of craftsmanship, tradition, and passion on my skin.

After a few hours, it became even deeper. Patchouli, amber, a hint of oud - now it was no longer a youthful, light fragrance, but something mature, mysterious. I felt almost as if I were wearing an invisible dress of elegance, as if the scent had made me larger, more present.

And the crazy thing was: the people around me noticed it. Friends asked what I was wearing, strangers turned around on the street. It was not just a perfume - it was like an invisible aura that accompanied me.

Today, I don’t wear the 17 Rosso Limited Edition often. It’s too special, too intense, too rare. But every time I spray it on, I remember that feeling of strength and elegance, as if I carry the city of Florence itself in my breath.

It’s not just a scent for me - it has become an emotion.

Great Limited Edition
I also had the chance to test this new release at a meet and greet with Herbert Stricker (Herbert is really extremely friendly, and it was very exciting to listen to him).
Now to the scent:
This does not differ directly by a higher concentration of fragrance oils, as further increases were not successful in the production of the scent, since the original was already very strong. Accordingly, this is a reinterpretation. If one might think that it is a completely new fragrance, one is mistaken.
Just from the first sniff, the typical "17 Rosso | Roberto Ugolini" DNA is recognizable. However, the opening has been altered more towards a fruity, pleasant note, and for me, raspberry and blackcurrant dominate here. As a result, the scent now seems better rounded and softer, in my opinion.
In the further development, the flowers have been removed and replaced by a light sweetness with woods that linger in the background.
The base consists of sandalwood with patchouli, which gives the fragrance its final touch.
Personally, I like this one much better than the regular "17 Rosso | Roberto Ugolini," as I never really liked the floral spiciness of that one, and the "17 Rosso Limited Edition | Roberto Ugolini" finally provides the perfect counterpart to the regular version.
In my opinion, a complete success!!

I've been expecting you...
Hello everyone,

today I would like to take a few words in advance that will surely be exciting for some.

Foreword 1:

When I found out at some point that there would be a stronger version of "Marzocco (Extrait de Parfum) | Roberto Ugolini," I already thought that the GOOD Mr. Stricker would eventually "pimp" the regular "17 Rosso | Roberto Ugolini," and apparently it worked out...

Foreword 2:

I have had the "17 Rosso | Roberto Ugolini" for quite a long time (over the years and several bottles) and I loved it; it was my go-to scent/ something I could grab without much thought, and it fit...

Foreword 3:

Anyway, when I found out that it was definitely coming, I had certain wishes... let's see if they were implemented!

________

About the scent:

First of all, it must be said that the core of "17 Rosso | Roberto Ugolini" is present (thankfully), it somehow feels like a facelift that brings it really well into the year. And it has NOT been ruined!

However, it must be said that the relatively dominant masculine rose is hardly present here, as it plays more with the fruits and an earthy (pleasant) creaminess and very nicely balanced woods...

The fact that this time more focus is placed on the raspberry is great, and yes, in my opinion, it fits very well, and NO, it has nothing to do with "London | Widian / AJ Arabia" + Ombre Nomade because of the raspberry. The scent feels independent and, as I find, does a lot right and well (+).

How is it received and when do you wear something like this?

It is somewhat different from "17 Rosso | Roberto Ugolini," but in essence, it is absolutely the same; it works always, except in the height of summer - ALWAYS, and it is received just as well. It is almost uncanny how well it is received, regardless of whether young or old, woman or man, and no matter what time of day....

But indirectly, I expected exactly this...!

I am not a fan of what I am doing now, but I find it important to mention, and it concerns the PRICE! As of today, used ones are going for just over 250 (almost new), and considering the current prices being traded here (XJ, PDM, MFK, Roja, etc.), it borders on a fair price to even being inexpensive....

H/S:

As expected, very good (each) in the sense of a relaxed 11h and more; such performance nowadays is anything but bad and "UNFORTUNATELY" relatively rare to encounter today (with current batches).

Therefore, I give a clear test recommendation!

My sample ran out in no time, which in itself is a somewhat "suspicious" behavior...

And now, have a nice day/evening or whenever you read this review, best regards, Benny

Blasphemy or a more palatable modernization?!
The regular 17 Rosso, more specifically the original version before reformulation, is one of my absolute favorite fragrances. I find the DNA incredibly successful and can lose myself for hours in the sweet mix of rose and peach. The scent possesses an incredible elegance, a brutal sillage, and exudes a unique niche character, yet still resonates well with the average nose.
In my opinion, the regular 17 Rosso is wearable for almost any occasion and any season (perhaps except for (high) summer).

Now, I will bridge to the Limited Edition. The Limited starts off significantly fruitier. I can distinctly smell the blackcurrant and raspberry throughout the entire duration of the fragrance. Especially in the first 2-4 hours, it is primarily the blackcurrant and the absence of mint that carry the scent, showcasing the biggest difference from the regular 17 Rosso. This makes the fragrance overall much fruitier, less heavy, and thus more modern and "mainstream." I am absolutely not someone who has anything against fruity scents and I actually enjoy wearing them. However, I believe that the Rosso DNA did not need any additional fruitiness for me. While the scent becomes more accessible and therefore more wearable for me in warmer temperatures, it unfortunately diminishes the original masterpiece's DNA in my opinion.

Sillage and longevity are, as usual, astronomical; I know few fragrances that perform like this, even though I have several top candidates for longevity in my collection. I find that in direct comparison, the regular 17 Rosso projects slightly more in the first hour due to its minty radiance.

After 2-4 hours, the new fruity "specter" is mostly over, and we reach the original (reformulated) Rosso DNA. In direct comparison, there are still differences to be noted; the fruity accord of the blackcurrant can still be perceived on a test strip for a long time. A slightly woodier undertone is also present, which allows one to distinguish the two versions quite well in a blind test at any point.

Conclusion: long story short, the classic 17 Rosso is a matter of the heart for me. A 10/10 fragrance that loses points for me even with the slight changes in the reformulation. For me, the original version remains the undisputed number 1!

Nevertheless, the Limited is a great interpretation based on the well-known and beloved DNA. Anyone who finds the regular Rosso too rosy and perhaps a bit too conventional will likely be well served by the fruity reinterpretation, provided they can appreciate the original DNA.

Anyone considering acquiring a 17 Rosso should definitely try both versions to get an impression. I suspect that the Limited might appeal more to the general public. However, the price difference alone would be a no-brainer for me, and I would always opt for the regular 17 Rosso, and if possible, one of the first batches before the reformulation.

For owners of the regular Rosso, however, the question arises: do I really need both?

Whereas the OG opens with peach and rose, the Limited Edition opens more like fruit punch. Delicious.

Fresh-fruity, the fruit cocktail starts, becoming increasingly rosy until it finishes with a woody, creamy, and slightly earthy fade.

Really good (much fruitier), just like the "original," whose DNA is unmistakably detectable. But would I buy it again? Noooooo.

I have to be the party pooper. The original is better, more rounded, unique. The limited edition feels like a bad sidekick and uninspired.
