It kicks off super likable with bergamot and eucalyptus, then after a few minutes, immortelle steps in. I know immortelle isn’t for everyone, but here it’s blended so nicely that even I wouldn’t skip it! Ambroxan, which usually likes to scream in newer niche perfumes, is perfectly balanced here, thanks to Cresp, ah that old trickster! A molecule that mimics salty water, along with oakmoss and musk in the drydown, keeps the bergamot alive till the end. At that point, it wouldn’t feel out of place next to Aqua Sextius by Jul et Mad. Fresh, blue, and just as the bottle suggests – oceanic or should I say adriatic!

There’s a zingy zesty element in this that reminds me of an old soap that I cannot recall at all. I do remember the advert here in the UK for it.

Zest.

It was right there! That’s the name of it! It smells like that bar of soap. It makes that odd areas at the back of your gums tingle.

There’s a very definite blue and aquatic feature to this, that makes it fairly ordinary and then there’s a spice possibly the Mastic.

I don’t think it’s for me but smelling it; it’s definitely for others. It’s very ‘Everyman’ (and woman) is not bad and it’s not great it’s in that vast area of ‘nice’.

The color of the bottle already suggests it: it's going to be aquatic, we have a summer scent here!
I spray and - sizzle! Freshness! Wow, great: aromatic, aquatic, citrusy, bright and transparent. At first, the scent reminds me of a fine aftershave, which is positively herbal, and that means to me that there is definitely no verbena included.
I have been searching for years for a saltwater aquatic that suits me, and I can reveal that I haven't found it here either. But Dscvr Me! is definitely heading in the right direction. I smell water, fresh water, seawater, because it lacks the typical softness and sometimes stagnant, even musty, qualities that freshwater has.
I have often wondered how to translate salt into a scent, because salt itself has no smell, but salted aromas smell different than when they are unsalted. I don't smell salt here either, but my association is seawater, not freshwater. It smells fresh and clean and of wind, wind from the sea, not wind from the harbor, nor from a fishing harbor or a beach with rotting seaweed.

As time goes on, the herbs become more prominent, so now we have more and more land in sight. Dry land, where plants release their aromas into the shimmering air, which is carried out to sea. The scent of straw flowers, which often seems too rough and herbaceous to me on its own, is very well dosed here and harmonizes in an interesting way with the other nuances; the jasmine is so soft that I can hardly recognize it as such, and the resin component is very soft and balanced when combined with the other notes.
I like this scent!

It pleases me for about 4 hours, and then the usual musk base gradually and relentlessly creeps in. Here it becomes strange, paired with a slight plastic undertone and minimal, limp sweetness. It is exactly this disappointing mainstream base that has spoiled many a fragrance for me.

What a pity, because the beautiful herbs and the successful representation of seawater unfortunately cannot hold up against it sufficiently.

My search will therefore continue.

Dscvr Me! is meant to depict the powerful, stormy sea. I envision something different: a bay where moss-covered, ancient roots reach down to the water and sunlight dances on the waves.
I like this scent. It starts as a spicy, slightly aquatic bergamot. Turquoise, clean saltwater washes over a few delicate jasmine blossoms, and with each wave that makes its way through the roots and peacefully rolls onto the shore, the water absorbs the aroma of the moss.
The aquatic aspect remains light at all times, pleasantly spicy and bergamot-fresh. Thanks to the careful use of strawflower, mastic, and moss, any association with citrus cleaners is kept away from this bay.
It doesn't suit me, but I would love to smell it on others.

Aquatic fragrances generally aren't my preferred scent direction; they just don't resonate with me.
So far, only a few scents with aquatic notes have managed to excite me, such as Pacific Rock Moss or Imagination.

Recently, Dscvr Me! reached me as another representative of this genre in a sample letter, and I was willing to give it an unbiased chance.
I sprayed it on my wrist in the morning, open to whatever might come.

The opening was pleasantly fresh and citrusy for me, without evoking associations with cleaners. I also detected a hint of eucalyptus and spicy notes before a mild aquatic element emerged.
It took me some time to realize which fragrance Dscvr Me! reminded me of in this phase; it is Splash, which I owned a long time ago.

The aquatic notes increase as it develops, bergamot is present, herbal notes come in, and jasmine remains (thankfully) subtly in the background.
When I close my eyes, I find myself among wind-battered wild shrubs high up in a rocky seaside cove, perhaps in Cyprus...?

In the dry down, unfortunately, herbal notes dominate, and I find the scent rather unpleasant here.

The sillage is moderate, so the fragrance won't disturb anyone during the approximately 6 hours I was able to perceive it.

My conclusion.
Did Dscvr Me! convince me? Partially.
Will it find a place in my collection? No, I don't think so; it simply needs more...
But for all lovers of aquatic fragrances, it is definitely worth a try.
