Adriatica!
It kicks off super likable with bergamot and eucalyptus, then after a few minutes, immortelle steps in. I know immortelle isn’t for everyone, but here it’s blended so nicely that even I wouldn’t skip it! Ambroxan, which usually likes to scream in newer niche perfumes, is perfectly balanced here, thanks to Cresp, ah that old trickster! A molecule that mimics salty water, along with oakmoss and musk in the drydown, keeps the bergamot alive till the end. At that point, it wouldn’t feel out of place next to Aqua Sextius by Jul et Mad. Fresh, blue, and just as the bottle suggests – oceanic or should I say adriatic!

A ‘Nice’ Blue Scent
There’s a zingy zesty element in this that reminds me of an old soap that I cannot recall at all. I do remember the advert here in the UK for it.

Zest.

It was right there! That’s the name of it! It smells like that bar of soap. It makes that odd areas at the back of your gums tingle.

There’s a very definite blue and aquatic feature to this, that makes it fairly ordinary and then there’s a spice possibly the Mastic.

I don’t think it’s for me but smelling it; it’s definitely for others. It’s very ‘Everyman’ (and woman) is not bad and it’s not great it’s in that vast area of ‘nice’.

Fancy some juice?
The color of the bottle already gives it away: Here it is aquatic, here we have a summer fragrance!
I spray and - whoosh! Freshness! Wow, great: aromatic, aquatic, citrusy, yet light and transparent. At first, the fragrance reminds me of a fine aftershave that is herbaceous in a positive way, which for me means that there is definitely no verbena in it.
I've been looking for a saltwater aquatic that suits me for years and I can tell you in advance that I haven't found one here either. But Dscvr Me! is going in the right direction. I smell water, fresh water, seawater, because it lacks the typical soft and sometimes stale, even musty smell of fresh water.
I've always wondered how to translate salt as a smell, because salt itself doesn't smell, but salted aromas smell different than when they are unsalted. Again, I don't smell salt, but my association is salt water, not fresh water. It smells fresh and clean and like wind, wind from the sea, not wind from the harbor, or even a fishing port or a beach with seaweed sniffing away.

As we progress, the herbs become more prominent, so now we have more and more land in sight. Dry land, where plants release their aromas into the shimmering air, which are carried out to sea. Immortelle, which often seems too shaggy and harsh to me on its own, is very well balanced here and harmonizes with the other nuances in an interesting way, the jasmine is so soft that it is hardly recognizable as such for me and the resin component is also very soft and balanced with the other notes I like this fragrance!

I like it for about 4 hours and then the usual musky base creeps in increasingly and inexorably. Here it is comically paired with a slight plastic undertone and minimal, lappy sweetness. It is precisely this disappointing mainstream base that has spoiled many a fragrance for me.

It's a shame that the beautiful herbs and the successful representation of salt water can't hold their own for me.

So my search will continue.

Mossy, spicy, salty bergamot
Dscvr Me! is supposed to depict the powerful, stormy sea. I see something else in front of me: a bay where mossy, old roots reach down to the water's edge and sunlight dances on waves.
I like this fragrance. It starts as a spicy, slightly aquatic bergamot. Turquoise, clean salt water washes around a few delicate jasmine flowers and with each wave that makes its way through the roots and rolls peacefully onto the shore, the water absorbs the aroma of the moss.
Aquatik remains light, pleasantly spicy and bergamot-fresh at all times. The careful use of immortelle, mastic and moss keeps any association with citrus cleaners away from this bay.
It doesn't suit me, but I would love to smell it on others.

Between windswept bushes in a rocky bay
Aquatics are generally not one of my favorite scents, somehow they just don't suit me.
So far, only a few fragrances with aquatic notes have managed to inspire me, such as Pacific Rock Moss or Imagination.

Recently, Dscvr Me! reached me as another representative of this genre in a traveling letter and I was willing to give it an unbiased chance.
So I sprayed it on the back of my hand in the morning, open to whatever might come.

The start was pleasantly fresh and citrusy for me, without evoking any associations with detergents. I also detected a hint of eucalyptus and spicy notes before a mild aquatic note was added.
I had to think for a while before I figured out which fragrance Dscvr Me! reminds me of at this stage; it is Splash, which I owned as a bottle a long time ago.

The aquatic notes increase as the fragrance progresses, bergamot is present, herbaceous notes are added, jasmine (fortunately) remains discreetly in the background.
If I close my eyes, I find myself among windswept wild shrubs high up in a rocky bay, perhaps on Cyprus...?

Unfortunately, herbaceous notes predominate in the DD, where I find the fragrance rather unpleasant.

The sillage is moderate, so the fragrance won't bother anyone for the 6 hours or so that I was able to perceive it.

My conclusion
Was Dscvr Me! able to convince me? Partly.
Will it move in with me? No, I don't think so, it just needs more...
But for all lovers of aquatic fragrances, it's definitely worth a try.
