Softly enveloping rum-vanilla scent
Vanilla notes sometimes make a perfume suffocating.

However Tenue de Soirée has an airy and dry quality, with just the right amount of powder.

The opening is a sharp alcoholic smell at first (rum), but that is very soon replaced by jammy black forest fruit and a small hint of bergamot, patchouli and iris.

The patchouli, caramel and musk gain in strength as time passes, but it never becomes overly sweet or cloying. 4 hours later, it is still present as a skin scent, at this point it's mostly caramel, slightly powdery iris and rose. The projection is similar - definitely noticeable but never too heavy.

It's a pleasantly warm and cosy scent.

In sum: A gourmand, a nice one with lovely rum, caramel and vanilla, maybe best worn during the colder season.

How to Leave a Lasting Impression
However, I don't want to know what kind! Yesterday during my lunch break, I indulged in my fragrance addiction once again. Quickly into the perfumery I trust. New, unfamiliar sales assistant? What the heck, driven by adventure and the desire for a new scent, I delivered my usual lunch break fragrance spiel. “It can be a bit unusual, but please work-appropriate, scent preferences are… , etc… ). I briefly hesitated at the bottle and packaging: little pom-poms in PURPLE? But still: the saleswoman's persuasive power lulled me into submission “absolutely the scent for you. Elegant, noble, a statement, yes, yes, of course: absolutely office-appropriate…” In a moment of mental confusion, I let the scent be sprayed on my hand immediately - and gasped for air! Waaaaaah????? Office-appropriate? What kind of office did the young lady think I worked in? In a call center for certain hours? No, that is absolutely unfair, because I actually find the scent wonderful.
Well, I went back to work and then the misfortune began: a phone call that lasted longer and then directly into a meeting (all male). I swear: it was just a single, tiny spritz on my hand! And it was enough that the two men to my left and right audibly inhaled. One: “Interesting scent you’re wearing today.” The other in response: “That’s something my wife wears when we go to the opera.” Well, sometimes a scent does require a certain self-confidence. But in that situation, it felt as if I had just shown up in a pink sequined dress barely covering my behind at a baptism or in a negligee at a law exam or something…
And now to the scent: Yes, this is a grand entrance, evening gown, velvet, high-heeled shoes, impractical handbag that doesn’t even fit a handkerchief (of course hand-embroidered batiste, whatever that may be), fits. Or also: huge fake bling-bling earrings.
I was totally astonished when I read that there are supposed to be only two fragrance components in it. To me, it smells spicy (hint of cinnamon, notion of clove) and opulently berry-like (fully ripe blackcurrants? But maybe my brain is only making that connection because of the purple color?). To me, it smells very warm, woody, profound, mysterious, and erotic. No vanilla? No wood? No musk? No white flower or something? My nose wants to smell all of that, even though it’s not supposed to be in there.
I am absolutely not sure whether I think the scent is super or just a bit trashy: I will definitely test it out in detail again!

Quickly powder the nose (why only the nose??) and look elegant!
Hello, fragrance lovers, and of course, lovers as well. It's great that you're back here with me reading my new comment (I hope no one is forcing you?? :D). Today, we’re talking about Annick Goutal's "Tenue de Soirée," which means evening dress and sounds somewhat sexy. And also elegant, as evening dresses can be, at least if one doesn't raid the closet like an extravagant celebrity, only to appear as a laughingstock in the media the next day :D

It seems that this fragrance belongs to the more exclusive range of Annick Goutal, as it doesn't come in the typical ribbed and usually yellowish bottle. However, that doesn't mean much, as among all fragrance categories, there are both good and lesser scents to be found.

That said, I hope for an elegant fragrance, as I associate evening dresses with elegance, and well, let’s see how the scent turns out!

The Scent:
The scent is quite powdery right from the start and smells of iris, along with light, sweet fruits. The sweetness mixed with the iris gives off a somewhat makeup-like quality, making it already feel sexy. Additionally, the top note resembles a feminine version of the wonderful Dior men's fragrance "Dior Homme."
For a short while, it stays this way, then the hinted patchouli becomes a bit more noticeable. And although I no longer like patchouli as much as I used to, I find that it fits well with the powdery and sweet notes, leaving a somewhat more mature and elegant impression rather than just being purely sweet.
Later, the sweetness is slightly reduced, the patchouli a bit stronger, so that the fragrance doesn’t come off as too earthy or overly sweet, but rather well-balanced. And it pretty much stays that way until the end.

The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is good; you can definitely be pleasantly noticeable without having to get too close to others. The longevity is also good, lasting over eight hours.

The Bottle:
Since this fragrance belongs to the somewhat more exclusive range of Annick Goutal, it does not come in the typical bottles one usually knows from Annick Goutal. This one is comparatively simpler, as it is just cylindrical, but shows a nice gradient from clear to violet. A golden chain hangs around the neck, ending with the brand's logo, and there’s a fluffy, violet pump ball that looks quite cuddly soft :)
All in all, a beautiful bottle.

So, even though this fragrance doesn't offer particularly many notes, I still find it very successful and beautiful. But fragrances don’t have to be particularly complex to be good perfumes, right? Moreover, this fragrance manages to be not only beautiful but also sexy and elegant, despite the few notes. A scent that, in my opinion, is perfectly fitting for its name and indeed suitable for going out or for the evening. And for everyone, um… every woman! :))

Hmm, I mentioned that the scent even came across to me as a feminine version of Dior Homme. Is it a coincidence that this fragrance is called "Evening Dress" and that Dior Homme's bottle design symbolizes a suit, which one can also wear for evening occasions? Hmm…

Well, anyway, I think this fragrance is worth testing, provided you don’t get headaches from powdery notes, as that can happen! I believe that the scent could also be well-received by others, and yes,… that’s why I said, give it a try, you might like it!

With that, I’ll stop for today, and we’ll "see" each other again here soon :D
Have a lovely evening until then, and see you soon :)

not just an evening dress ....... ,
which I wore again today - well, it was broad daylight! but I really like this scent; it could easily become my signature. However, there are voices here that are somewhat against it, and I can hardly understand the statements.

First of all: I am by no means an advocate of sweet sugary bombs; I love intense orientals, perfumes with a smoky aura, or scents with a chypre character far too much.
Tenue de Soiree, however, which effectively draws sweetness from the two components, is not one of those.
However, there is a slight sweetness that is immediately taken under the wings of woody-spicy accords and remains pleasant.
The scent came to me not too long ago as a side entrant. This beautiful dress was included with a perfume order and - these flashes of insight do happen again and again - after applying it, I immediately had that certain something in my nose that makes you sit up and take notice, and one should patiently allow it the time to develop its beauty. - And then it managed to enchant me.

From the only three components that, in my opinion, unite wonderfully here, a very well-scented perfume beauty was created - yes, perhaps without the claim of absolute beauty, because in its beginning there is indeed a small break. - But it is not always the absolute beauty that enchants you, but rather the individual uniqueness that can do that.

The scent:
The first impression, the small break, is made by a slightly medicinal note that can be easily overlooked. Then the listed components surprisingly suggest much more than one would expect.
I smell a lot of bright wood, berry fruit, flowers, and spice. A spicy note that exaggerates a bit at the very beginning. However, through iris and patch in its DNA, a particularly soft-spicy beautiful shape emerges.
In summary, this is for me a delicate woody scent with fruity-spicy undertones, a lot of iris powder, and - very, very beautiful.

And the damned sweetness?
It is certainly present, especially since iris and earthy sweet patchouli appear together. But it is so well integrated into the emerging scent effect that it does not become unpleasant and contributes harmoniously to its olfactory beauty with its corresponding share in this fragrance.
There are truly stickier waters!

For me, a very beautiful evening dress, also wearable during the day. The sillage is well noticeable but not intrusive, and the longevity is above average.
After this scent caught my attention from the side, I have now fallen for it and often give it the chance to seduce me.

The Sugar Note Was Omitted
I’m sitting among all the moving boxes that are scattered haphazardly around the apartment and I’m annoyed that I haven’t written a single comment in weeks. In 2 weeks, we’re moving to a new apartment, and there’s a lot to be done. Long to-do lists or not, my inner voice scolds me, anyone who can shop on eBay (and I’ve been doing that all too well lately) can also write a comment. So I reach for one of the untested vials that haven’t been packed into moving boxes yet. Tenue de Soirée, ah, that’s a relatively new Goutal fragrance, which comes in these pretty pom-pom bottles, and I recently read a comment from our dearly appreciated cat-loving friend about it, where the scent was quite well received (see below). However, I want to be unbiased and spray it on generously:

Wow sweet, fruity, milky, and then nail polish remover? I confusedly set my arm aside, revise the first paragraph, and sniff again, glancing at the pyramid. Red fruits then. Phew, I often confuse red fruits with berries. While strawberries, currants, and raspberries are also red fruits, grapes, cherries, and plums are too. I think of the red fruit juice from Hohes C, I bet its base, like that of many fruit-containing foods, is apples. After all, they can also be red. To be honest, I’m always a bit disillusioned when the scent notes in perfumes are as vaguely specified as just fruits, flowers, and spices; it can smell like anything. But okay, I admit it’s fruity, maybe also red.

Next, I read iris, yes, I can confirm that. I smell iris, and it’s an extremely sweet, powdery lipstick iris. Not unpleasant, but again I wonder, why do so many of the newer fragrances have to be so sweet? It’s like with our food, there are tons of sugar everywhere. Is that really necessary? Probably more of a topic for a blog: the over-sweetening of society, measured by the consumer goods of daily use (I’d rather not talk about need when it comes to perfume ;) ).

Patchouli is also listed: Well, after the 20 minutes since spraying, I can (still) smell none of it, even though I suspect a darker note lurking far behind all the squeaky sweet, undefined fruits and the iris. It’s still hiding well, or is it the culprit conjuring up these associations with nail polish removing solvents?
Fortunately, this acetone-like note disappears over time, but not much else happens. It’s a shame about the promised patch that I was looking forward to so much. And the scent leaves me a bit disappointed as well.

Was I too harsh today? I couldn’t just criticize the supernatural sweetness in this fragrance, of course, but when vanilla, tonka, sugar, caramel, and praline appear in the scent pyramid, it’s somehow clear to me, and I find it justified that the scent is quite sweet. But do iris and fruits really have to be depicted so overly sweet? It seems like they’re now building a pretty decent fragrance from exactly these building blocks and drowning everything in sugar, making it sticky and gritty.

Gourmand and sugar fans can feel free to test it, I’ll pass here and brush my teeth a minute longer this evening just in case.

Powdery on top with a mix of iris and praline that feels like blackcurrant jam. Perhaps a little synthetic but ticks a "silly and fun" box.

Praline and a little powdery iris. Sweet and flirty, very nice for what it is.

A brief splash of violet; then 5 hours of expensive antique face powder. Subdued and elegant as far as makeup scents go, I'll give it that.

I can’t believe for a second that this only has iris and patchouli in it, because it smells sugary, fruity, a bit like a teenage party!

Does the breathtakingly beautiful, soft, and gently powdery iris fear the sweet patchouli, or why does it run away so quickly?
