Amorphous Woods with an Excellent Sprayer
Contrary to Eau d'Hadrien, I can barely smell any lime or lemon in Bois d'Hadrien, only a vague suggestion of a fresh fruity opening. And in a sense true to its name, Bois d'Hadrien indeed feels quite woody. However, these woody notes don't really have any charming characteristics of specific wood, either, but more like an abstract fruity woody note with certain similarities to Cashmeran. And it even turns a bit aridly smoky in the dry down, somewhat similar to the unpleasant effect of certain woody amber aromachemicals quite common these days.

Probably thanks to these potent molecules, the projection of Bois d'Hadrien is rather heavy, and it can cling on skin for at least 10 hours. But in return, I find Bois d'Hadrien lacks urgently the subtle, poetic beauty of previous creations from the house of Goutal. As a result, I would not particularly recommend this fragrance, especially if you happen to be fan of Goutal's offerings before 2012 which feel completely different in style with Bois d'Hadrien.

As a side note, the spray mechanism of the new packaging is much better than the older Goutal sprayer! It gives out a very uniform spray and is much easier to press.

A lime Pie with a sticky crust...!!!
This is quite a unique creation, at least to me it is.

The quality of the ingredients will let you smell every single note individually, a trade mark I noticed with Goutal fragrances in general, something I can't say about other houses.

Very bright lime with sticky sweet balsams, a combination I haven't seen before.

Oh, and the sprayer is absolutely magnificent, just 2 or 3 sprays and you're good to go.

no conqueror, no ruler - but a little piece of the fragrance paradise!
Yes, it is warm: summer has returned with force and intends to settle down for more than just a moment.
As a summer creature, I welcome it, but I also know that it can be a burden for many.

Thus, the right light wardrobe and a corresponding fragrance are all the more important during this summer time.
Nothing constricting, nothing heavy that swings the scent club.
No, now is the time for "waters" in various compositions; everything called Acqua Leggero is welcome: a fresh, cooling breeze that pleasantly surrounds and does not constrict.

Already during the first very warm days, I tried many "freshies" from my decants.
Now, after the morning trip to the Gulf of Sorrento with "Sorrentina," I consciously reached for "Bois d'Hadrien": spicy freshness and successful wood aromas envelop me!

It is still warm, but the evening feels like it is descending over a gently hilly southern landscape that seems to breathe softly.
I sit amidst the warm aromas that the cypress and pine emit, on a slope.
This mixture makes me relaxed and peaceful.
Aromatic and spicy underbrush spreads its own slightly rugged charm, and a light breeze brings the fine fresh scent of nearby lemon/lime plantations.
The magnificent image of a Mediterranean landscape emerges here. A fragrance painting, an idyll that dispels tension; gently untangles the strained thoughts and smooths them out kindly.
A scent being with a light step and gentle hand is born!

Camille Goutal succeeds here in translating the harmony of a summer landscape into a fragrance image.
"Bois d'Hadrien" is a hybrid fragrance: not masculine, not feminine - it adapts effortlessly and is immediately present.
Nothing needs to develop first, nothing hides or arrives late: "Bois d'Hadrien" is here now and immediately; complete and personal for everyone.
Its lightness is elegant, yet not too casual.
For several hours, this seemingly light yet refined fragrance creation accompanies me; surprisingly long for a scent from this house.

My trust in the name Annick Goutal was not disappointed here either.
However, I find it hard to warm up to the shape of the new bottles; where are the sensual curves of the familiar bottles that fit so beautifully in the hand?
"Bois d'Hadrien" sends me on a journey into a special fragrance landscape.
Its gates are opened to me anew with each spray, and I enter with great joy and love to linger there again and again!

Proven Lemonwood
I don't know Eau d'Hadrien, but I can imagine that Eau d'Hadrien plus wood results in Bois d'Hadrien. For me, Bois d'Hadrien is mainly lemon (or lime, if you prefer) plus wood. It could be cypress wood, but it could also come from the hardware store. This might sound like a harsh critique, and honestly, I find critiques much more entertaining than praise. However, Bois d'Hadrien has proven to be excellent for me at work. So far, it is best suited for work alongside (untitled) l'eau and Blanche (Byredo). I should mention that I get quite close to people at work, and it's good if I smell fresh. Additionally, I comfort and cheer myself up at work with the perfume I wear.

At first, Bois d'Hadrien blew me away; I found the scent so wonderful. I must attribute that to my inexperience. Then I didn't buy the bottle because I found the scent one-dimensional. Lemon. Wood. If I had been fair, I should have at least counted lemon and wood as two-dimensional together. But it might also have been due to that terribly hot summer. Perhaps Bois d'Hadrien doesn't work at 30°C plus, but hits differently. With the wood on top, it’s not great at all.

When my sample runs out, I will definitely need a bottle for autumn, winter, and spring at work, alternating with the other scents mentioned above.

I consider Bois d'Hadrien to be unisex, and it can probably be worn on other occasions as well.

Especially Beautiful Duet
I recently discovered Bois d’Hadrien. I have known the Annick Goutal brand for a while and I really like it; I am fond of natural ingredients. I became aware of Bois d’Hadrien while browsing in an upscale perfumery, and I found the duet of lemon and wood very appealing from the outset. However, the prices were also quite upscale…

Fortunately, through a nice perfumer, I was able to acquire a decant, and I now treasure it like a gem.

It is a wonderful fragrance that starts off with a strong, zesty lemon and immediately brings a woody undertone. Over time, the woody note becomes stronger while the lemon remains. At the same time, a wonderful powdery warmth emerges, and it develops into a very beautiful scent that lingers on me for hours. I indeed have an association with wood or trees, but not in the forest, rather in the garden. Trees are being pruned (I love gardening!), wood is being stacked, there is digging in the earth, and on the table, there is a lemon cake and a carafe of mineral water with lemon slices and mint leaves. It is a robust scent that still has a certain softness in its depth, making it neither harsh nor strict.

I believe this fragrance will accompany me for a long time and soon become a regular guest in my collection. It is a very beautiful, indeed special scent for every day, also suitable for the office, less for an elegant evening, but still stylish, and for every season. The lemon refreshes in summer, the wood warms in winter - perfect!

Simple lime and pine, but it works - refreshing and invigorating, yet unfortunately fleeting.
Nice bottle with excellent sprayer.

A relaxed mix of citrus freshness, bitter green, and dry wood. The original scent is still recognizable. A lovely summer companion.

Somewhat soft notes that make the pine and cypress seem relatively citrusy and less woody. Feels a bit insignificant.

In the ivy shade: Even though candied lemon from Eau d'Hadrien is sadly missing here, this is an all-around beautiful, green-yellow radiant scent.
