Sandy Iris

A dry, sandy scent with a surprisingly effervescent purple floral top. Earthy woods and a faint roughout leather are contrasted against a sweet powdery lavender & lipsticky iris. As if walking through the Outback, well-worn cowboy boots kicking up sand, and coming across a small desert bloom of lavender and iris flowers. Moderately strong projection stays consistent through ~4hr before winding down into an all-day close scent bubble, longevity 10-12hr.

A slightly fresher, less dense take on the Valentino Uomo Intense, pre-2020 Dior Homme type of DNA. Think something like 4 sprays DH Original, jazzed up with 1 spray DH Parfum + 1 spray L'Air du Desert Marocain to add that slight touch of leather & sand.

Great fresh spicy leathery iris

Happyland Zzyzx RD is one of the more recent releases from the house, and among the freshest and most easygoing of the iris-led creations, the others being Shadowland and Mad Anthony. It’s fresh, smooth, spicy, and a bit powdery with the iris, but it’s a balanced, complete medley also featuring suede, lavender, cedar, labdanum, and what smells to me like some citruses. It’s yet another great example of the late, great E.J. Wells’ skill and vision, as Zzyzx RD has all the makings of a timeless, unisex signature scent, though I like it as something masculine that works very well in transition weather from cool to warm or vice versa.
