Icy Citrus

A fresh lemon citrus and white floral scent with an icy, minty, almost camphorous vigor courtesy of biting almond and sharp herbal notes. Like you're catching a whiff of salty sea breeze out on the beach, and it's mixing with a brisk mountain air blowing from snow-capped mountaintops behind you. Or perhaps delicate white flower petals adorned with frozen citrus juice crystals. Strong projection for the first couple hours fading over 4-5hr, longevity 8-10hr.

Best icy citrus, unique and interesting

Happyland Hinterland is perhaps the best example I’ve smelled of the “icy citrus” concept, a fresh citrus fragrance that has a crispness that mimics the smell of frost-covered vegetation or iced objects in general. There’s a freshness, for sure, via a healthy dose of citruses, but also a sharpness fostered by almond, musks, florals, herbs, and ambergris. It’s pungent, invigorating, bright, and multifaceted, not simply a citrus bouquet but a diverse bouquet. Moreover, it adds diversity to the catalogue, offerings something quite different from the other fresh-leaning fragrances, not at all redundant with Gaelic Mist, Wunderland, Shameless, etc., but rather its own unique blend. I find that it wakes me up in the morning, regardless of situation or weather, and that’s when I like to wear it most.

As with the rest of the house, it performs very well, particularly for a fresher fragrance, and is very reasonably priced, at $57/44 for 50/30ml, with affordable samples available, as well.

Not What I Expected.

Got a free sample of Hinterland with my purchase. I'm grateful to have been able to sample before buying. I was expecting something fresh but with a little more depth. It kinda fits that profile but it has more of a citronella smell on my skin. Not sure what's causing it to smell that way. Maybe it's my skin chemistry. I've tried wearing it a couple of times and just ended up trying to wash it off as best I could. Smells like bug repellant on me. Just didn't do it for me. It's strong and projects and I'm pretty sure it lasts long because I had a hard time scrubbing it off. I could still smell it slightly. Out of all the samples I've tried from this house; Amberland, Diabolique, and Green Irish Tobacco, this was by far my least favorite. Diabolique and Amberland are full bottle worthy.
