Give this one time
When I initially made my statement about this, I said it was short-lived and had little projection or sillage. That was based on the initial sample and a couple of wearings. However, after wearing this more and going through the entire sample (a 2mL amount, which ended up giving me 5 total wears), I have a different opinion of it.
Initially, it was very soft and wore very close to the skin. It had a lovely, bright orange, sugary, almost gourmand feel to it, but after a couple of hours, it was gone. I thought I had gone anosmic, but still caught whiffs of it now and again throughout the day, so I decided to give it more of an opportunity. On subsequent wearings, it improved significantly. Letting it age a bit on the shelf and wearing it out in higher heat gave it a chance to develop and shine. I now get a solid 9 hours or so with it, and the scent stays with me throughout the day. I've gotten dozens of compliments, and quite a few people have taken the time to ask about it and hear the story behind it. It's subsequently become a summer favorite, and now that I've worn through the sample, I'm considering buying the larger bottle.
