Difficult to wear, but worth the effort
I have the 'Venus' version of this compact, which I believe has the same perfume in a much prettier case. I've never tried the liquid version of Toujours Moi (either by Corday or Dana), so can't say how they compare.
It may be due to improper storage (this wasn't new when I got it) or just the natural ravages of time, but the "cream" in here is nearly solid. After carrying it in my pocket for an hour or so to warm it up, it softens into something the color and consistency of earwax. In this form it's at least spreadable, although it leaves a yellowish residue on my skin.
There are no top notes here, and no projection, which again is probably due to its age. What I smell is a very dense amber in its purest form, as if Corday has taken the base of Shalimar and its ilk and stripped away everything extraneous to leave pure vanillic resins. This smells like something I would expect to find in an Egyptian tomb— a little dusty, but still rich and beautiful. I really enjoy this. I just wish it was a little easier to wear.
