Evergreen gourmand

Chopard made my favorite fragrance of all time, Casmir (now discontinued), which I've been wearing for about 30 years. I decided to sample some of Chopard's more current offerings. Or de Calambac sounded intriguing. At first I got pepper, then toasty hazelnut and Tonka, then juniper, and finally mentholy oud and myrrh. The hazelnut, Tonka, and juniper are dominant. Unfortunately the combination of gourmand hazelnut and Tonka plus evergreen conjures craft store at Christmas for me. Fans of If by R.K. may like Or de Calambac.

Good day and welcome, my esteemed sniffers!
Today I would like to speak to you since I unfortunately cannot post a second statement. Logical! Therefore, I will present to you here, dear sniffers, a small excerpt from my memoirs.

In the jungle, a hint of pepper, exotic nuts and delicious cocoa, sweet, colorful little birds, they dance, they sing, ripe fruits, resinous wood, gold, it shimmers and sparkles, look there, lightly clad Amazons. ... Samba!
Rio de Janeiro, Hotel Four Seasons, with breakfast, quite an expensive affair, do you have the Amex?
...but it was worth it!

quite lovely

I sprayed Chopard in search of an Oud without a synthetic note. In the opening, it is very subdued, but it develops beautifully and diversely throughout the day. The anise note comes across a bit pharmacy-like, and I can also clearly detect juniper and tonka; however, the hazelnut and cinnamon are too strongly overshadowed by the ethereal character for me. Cypress, guaiac wood, and labdanum emerge quite successfully in the base and in the dry down through the gentle Oud veil. I kept envisioning myself as a little boy flipping through old books at my grandmother's house (who always wore Nonchalance).
And in the base, it still smells a bit of labdanum and just a hint musty, but also with a trace of citrus/ethereal, which may come from the vetiver.
The longevity was, in my opinion, rather not very enduring.
Definitely an extraordinary fragrance, but ultimately it felt a bit too flat for me.

Or de Calambac is based on a very pleasant oud, slightly gourmand (hazelnut, tonka). The star anise, juniper and vetiver give it freshness.

A bit gourmand (I don’t really want to say it;) but wearable, anytime. Sweet, hardly spicy, more like herbal candies from back in the day. Light & unpretentious.>>
