Meditation in a Bottle
This is not my first fragrance from La Maison de la Vanille.
However, I must say that unfortunately none of them have appealed to me so far. They are all crafted with finesse, though. The performance for the price paid is always right.
Ambre Secret leads us to a place of absolute tranquility, deep within ourselves.
Here, nothing exists except for the deep primal source of our being, from which the essence of our existence rises in the form of a fragrant, warm vapor. No noise, only silence. No thoughts, only spiritual peace.
A place where one likes to settle down and linger. A place one must settle down in, as it immediately captivates you like a fragrant pull. You can't help it.
The gentle light of this place emanates from small orbs of light that can be visually sensed in the depths of the source. They give the scene a mystical touch.
The balsamic scent of amber and musk, rising gracefully from the brownish-hued vapors that slowly ascend from the source, draws you closer to this place. You kneel by the source and gaze entranced at the rising vapors, as a third gray vapor ascends and majestically circles the other two. The masses of vapor begin to swirl gradually as they embrace each other, only to then blend together. The gray patchouli vapor begins to dominate the amber and musk until it gradually completely engulfs them.
This process is so fascinating that you want to stand up and reach out to touch the swirling scent cloud.
But you linger.
When I try to imagine the scent in sound, "We Come 1" by Faithless immediately comes to mind!
The name of the fragrance in German, "Geheimer Amber," suggests to me that while amber is present, it is more perceptible in the background. Nevertheless, amber is supposed to be the main actor, making the scent an amber fragrance.
On my skin, the fragrance adheres to no rules that would be compatible with this name.
I initially perceive amber and musk distinctly, which then, in my opinion, are dominated far too quickly and too much by patchouli, and subsequently completely displaced by it.
In my view, it is more of a patchouli scent. Unfortunately, I am not a big fan of these. Nevertheless, I must admit that I had the scent for quite a long time. It lasted easily for 8 hours. Projection and sillage are rather mediocre. The sweet-earthy scent remained close to the skin after the other two aromas had evaporated.

Pure Love
First of all, one can perceive a - No, my comment starts a bit differently this time than usual!

Thanks to the "Amber release" of our perfume "Serafina," I was able to get to know Ambre Secret and fell in love immediately!

After that, I tried to find out when the sample that "Serafina" generously passed on was from - and she was really so extremely generous to send me a current filling from her bottle, which is identical, as I had very big concerns that it might be poorly reformulated, but that is not the case here!

At first, one can perceive an incredibly soft, balsamic, sweetly creamy powdery note, which I personally do not identify as amber, but rather as Ambra - Absolue.

At the same time, the fragrance is accompanied by a rather clear, internally calm, sweetly bright nuance, thanks to the white musk.

A little later, the scent is accompanied by a very delicately appearing light woody, subtly sweet earthy nuance, which brings along extremely fine resinous sweet sprinkles in the background and arises from the cedarwood in combination with patchouli and labdanum - Absolue, although I cannot say for sure whether the cistus is already perceptible here, since labdanum is known to be derived from cistus.

The overall heart note is captured by a pure, thickly viscous balsamic love, and I cannot explain to you this time where it comes from, as it most likely stems from my own subjective perception and can only be the Peru balsam for me personally.

In the last 3 hours, a wonderful, purely appearing sweetly creamy, very subtly smoky vanilla note joins in with very delicate creeping nuances, which provides a wonderful smooth finish, and I suspect the use of black vanilla - Absolue here.

Overall, the fragrance lasts 8.5 hours on my skin.

I find the sillage here this time to be extremely noteworthy, as it reaches a well-perceptible quarter arm's length (rating of 5) with a pulse test and this is also the case when "properly worn," but as soon as one moves a little and builds up heat, the sillage reaches a very well-perceptible whole arm's length (rating of 7) and immediately retracts to the aforementioned quarter arm's length when the body cools down, maintaining this for 4 hours before it gradually reduces until the scent fades.

Too Masculine
Not another men’s fragrance! That was my first thought when I sprayed Ambre Secret. So I quickly took a look at the classification. Well, at least it’s labeled as unisex. But for me, it has absolutely nothing feminine about it. Even though the pyramid is not supposed to be complete, I expect something soft and gentle from a scent with amber and vanilla. However, here we have the exact opposite. Something harsh, smoky. Rather even slightly herbal. So unfortunately, that’s how it stays with me. The vanilla has hidden itself so well that it is never recognizable on its own. Is there anything positive? Yes, the longevity is not too strong at 4-5 hours. Since I don’t like the scent, I was glad that it didn’t last too long.

Uncomplicated Amber-Vanilla Fragrance
"A harmony of Eastern fragrances and delicately wooded scents enveloped in a golden case...
A rare and instinctive blend of pure amber and the woody warmth of sandalwood, rock rose and vanilla." This is what La Maison de la Vanille writes on their website.

While rearranging my samples, I came across Ambre secret. Uiii, I let something really good slip by. I love amber and vanilla, preferably sweet and gourmand. If you don't like that, you should stay away from this fragrance.

The opening is quite spicy; I can't believe that the above pyramid is complete. I think I smell pepper, possibly myrrh, and something slightly citrusy that disappears very quickly.
It continues with increasing sweetness, becoming slightly floral and powdery.
Towards the base, the sweetness recedes, and it becomes a bit woody and smoky.
That could be cedarwood or guaiac wood, but that's pure speculation.
The base lasts a very long time, simply becoming weaker, but not changing much.

This is an uncomplicated, skin-close, spicy-sweet vanilla-amber fragrance that can be used very well in winter as an all-rounder. I see it more on women; for men, it seems too sweet to me, although it is classified as unisex.

Edit: Here is the complete pyramid:
Top note: Amber Absolute and white musk
Heart note: Sandalwood, cedarwood, patchouli, Peru balsam, cistus, labdanum absolute
Base note: Vanilla absolute.

Should I stick to the fact that it is an uncomplicated fragrance?
Yes, but very delicious!

Amber and vanilla are here, that's no secret. Light sweetness. In the dry down, earthy patchouli + light bright smoke. More of a masculine winter scent.

By the fireplace, yellow leaves outside, red wine, on the sofa with Ambre Secret. Warm and elegant, rounded and classy. The theme is spot on.

3x Amber - that's what the scent offers. The sweetness of vanilla is only in the background. Absolutely unisex. H + S unfortunately leave something to be desired.

Nice scent with vanilla and amber. Longevity and sillage are good. Pretty but nothing new, nothing groundbreaking. Seen it all before.

You get amber and vanilla here, and nothing else. But that's absolutely enough for the beautiful scent. Warm and slightly smoky in the finish.

Soft, yet smoky and more sweet than bittersweet. For my nose, it's more of a men's scent.
