A lovely fruity floral but nothing exceptional - good value as a daily wear
I had never heard of this brand before I picked up a sample of Secret Love from Jovoy Paris online. The notes looked interesting as I was keen on getting a nice fruity berry fragrance for my collection. I was looking for something like Lalique Amethyst, but with more interesting heart notes that smelled less synthetic. Amandine Clerc-Marie is the perfumer who created Secret Love, but this information is disclosed only on Majouri’s Instagram site, not on Jovoy and Parfumo. This review was initially written for a 2 ml sample of Secret Love that I got from Jovoy online. I recently bought a 75 ml bottle, and the review was updated accordingly.

The notes listed by the perfumer are mandarin blossom, blackberry, kiwi, water lily, freesia, orchid, sandalwood, mahogany and musk. The opening is a powerful gust of blackberry and kiwi and orange blossom. These notes are blended nicely, so it is not easy to pick the dominant note. The heart notes of water lily, freesia and orchid appear soon after, almost completely eclipsing the opening fruity notes. These floral notes are very nice but unexceptional, and I cannot separate them as individual notes. When the heart notes subside, you can detect the base notes, primarily sandalwood and musk, but these are too feeble to impart any personality. These base notes appear as a weak sesame accord for my nose, which is a missed opportunity. Even in the end, Secret Love continues to be a floral perfume with some weak fruity nuances. But it is a nice fruity floral fragrance that works as a daily use perfume without ruffling any feathers.

The performance is good but as gentle as can be expected of fruity floral fragrance. The sillage is good in the opening hours, particularly in the wake of the wearer. The longevity is 4-6 hours, but it is a light projection most of the time. This will work fine as an office fragrance, if you don’t mind the fruity floral vibe.

I like Secret Love, but I hesitate to give it a strong recommendation, mainly because I don’t have anything to hang it on. It is good perfume, but everything about it leans comforting, mainstream and conventional. If you are looking for an inexpensive fruity-floral with kiwi and blackberry, Secret Love may be a good choice, but not because it covers any new ground. However, it is a much better choice than Lalique Amethyst.
