The Ultimate Version
As someone who has grown tired of Creed Aventus and all of its clones for a good couple of years now, I have to say that even with this thought in my mind, I was kind of excited when I got this scent. Even though Aventus is nowhere near the best offering from Creed, and I could easily list five better scents from their selection, it is by far their most popular fragrance, and the reason why we still see clones of it released almost daily, even in the 2020s. With an open mind, I’ll give you a great selection of reasons why you should consider or skip this release, depending on where you are in your fragrance journey.

TOP NOTES
Precieux 1 is, without a doubt, the best version of CDNI you can own. The drawbacks are obvious, but if you can accept them, I think that you cannot find a better-inspired Aventus perfume. This opening screams quality. From the juicy, sweet pineapple to the almost photorealistic lemon that is enveloped in a peppery zing with a touch of caramel, it is to die for.

HEART NOTES
In the heart notes, ambroxan starts to kick in with a touch of anise and something floral, but I’m not sure whether that is jasmine or Lily of the Valley. For me, the heart phase (lasting a few hours) is sweet but more sophisticated than the top – balanced and a bit mysterious.

BASE NOTES
Eventually, Precieux 1 dries down to a warm, sensual base. In the final hours, I smell deep amber, ambroxan, and a leading player of this composition – the wonderful green oak moss. The oak moss is the reason why I think the whole release is on a whole different level from what we saw in the previous iterations of CDNI.

OVERALL
In conclusion, Precieux is an outstanding fragrance that achieves its intended goal. In my trials, it delivered on its promises: sophisticated depth, strong longevity, and a luxury feel at a designer cost.

Good Quality and Value but Safe
For under $50, you get a really nice quality fragrance with a beautiful bottle and presentation. The fragrance oil concentration is obviously upped and it lasts quite a while on skin and clothes.

HOWEVER, this is not nearly as interesting as Club de Nuit Intense Man Limited Edition Parfum, or even the Eau de Toilette for that matter. Precieux smells like a combination of two Yves Saint Laurent fragrances to me. It has an opening similar to Y Eau de Parfum. Very sweet, sharp and loud fruity note. In Y it’s apple and in Precieux it’s pear, but it comes across very similar. It then has a very floral aspect to it that reminds me of the orange blossom in MYSLF Eau de Parfum. There may be an Aventus type DNA lurking in this fragrance somewhere, but it is not at all obvious. The deep dry down is spicy and has almost a licorice type note in it which is in the same ballpark as Dior Sauvage Elixir, but way more toned down.

If you like sweet, fruity, and floral designer masculine scents with a spicy dry down, this one is going to be right up your alley. It’s mass appealing, inoffensive, and is sure to get you positive attention if not over- sprayed.

It’s just kind of safe and boring. Something I’ll wear in the fall and winter when I don’t want to put much thought into my fragrance.

Precieux: A Warm Embrace of Sophistication
Precieux delivers a warm and refined fragrance experience that transcends the ordinary. This chypre amber scent is meticulously crafted, showcasing a harmonious blend of zesty, spicy, and woody notes. From the premium packaging to the beautiful fragrance within, the attention to detail is evident. The opening offers a complex and well-blended citrus burst with impressive projection, evolving into a gorgeous sweet mossy musk. Unlike some other citrus scents, Precieux avoids any harsh synthetic edge. Even those who typically shy away from musk, like this reviewer, may find themselves captivated by its charm. A truly beautiful scent, perfect for regular wear.

Spectacular
I basically love anything that smells like Aventus. Specially that which has a twist. I’ve not put my nose on Aventus Absolu. But I already know the real deal Aventus is smoother, I have a bottle and like most I’ve noted that glorious scent doesn’t last as long performance wise.

This small baddie from Armaf is smooth and it flies off my skin and as if I was the Earth and it’s placed a scent bubble to my LeGrange Point. It does so for a solid 4-5 hours before it dials down closer to my skin without becoming a skin tight scent.

I just wished Armaf would put out a bigger bottle of this. I’d pay for that.

What Creed Aventus used to be
This is exactly how I remember Creed Aventus back when it was still a strong fragrance. I can say right away that this is worth every cent, however there are a couple of things you should know.

The scent clearly takes inspiration from Aventus but pushes it further with peppery and slightly sweet notes. None of these come across as unpleasant or overly cloying in my opinion. That said, this is a heavier fragrance, so overspraying is a real risk. Even if you stop noticing it, people around you definitely will. It is a crowd pleasing scent, but it is not as fresh as the original Creed Aventus but it is also not a clone of the OG. Because of that, I would not really recommend it for someone over 50. It leans sweeter and more attention grabbing but not in a classy or traditionally sophisticated way.

The quality, longevity and sillage are absolutely bombastic here. There is no realistic way to complain about performance. In the end it really comes down to whether you enjoy this scent profile or not. Personally, I find it to be a compliment getter and an easy all-occasion fragrance. This is a no brainer for many people, just be aware that it is very powerful.

Smells like generic perfume with no character. Too smooth to tell notes apart. Not worth retail (£90) nor discounted price (£55.)

Precieux smells like sharp synthetic pineapple, pepper and Ambroxan. Unbalanced and generic, a cheaper, weaker Absolu Aventus.

Wonderful scent profile which only gets better in the dry down. However, the projection is very poor.

The bergamot opening is very pleasing. However if you overspray, the woody dry down feels cheap.
