Lurking plastic flowers with glitter
You know those plastic flowers that you see in abundance in the popular €1 stores? Usually in surprisingly unnatural imitations, preferably stemmed roses or branched flower arrangements in every color of the rainbow? Sometimes topped off with a pervasive, annoying layer of glitter that, if you're unlucky enough to come into contact with the gorgeous arrangement, you'll never be able to get rid of (and will probably still mark your way home as a magical trail)? That was pretty much the first image I had when testing Secret du Nil.

When I first sprayed it, I wasn't sure exactly what I was smelling - too much, too loud and, above all, synthetically sweet. You can recognize neroli relatively quickly - a very distinctive flower for me anyway. Paired with the idea of bitter almond, it creates a creaminess that becomes a very penetrating film with the indicated honey and other sweet notes - almost like the plastic glitter, which is not only particularly clingy, but also particularly fake. For me, it's actually too much, too loud and I'm sure that those around me would also notice this fragrance intensely - a kind of all-pervasive glitter sprinkler.

Unfortunately, the fruity notes only provide a slight relaxation for the first 30 minutes and lift the otherwise rather oppressive fragrance. The oppressiveness is intensified by a good dose of plastic, which brings me back to the artificial flower arrangements.

I am sure that this fragrance will also find its fans - just as the plastic flowers still seem to have their place on the sales floor.

Grandiose honey feel-good fragrance
The four fragrances in the first Nectar Olfactif collection are inspired by the fascinating world of bees. This olfactory expedition leads through aromas reminiscent of the sweet nectar of bees.

And so, after a brief, slightly citrusy freshness at the beginning, the fragrance launches into a brilliant, caressing scent in which the sweet scent of honey plays the central role.

For long stretches, Secret du Nil also reminds me of the smell of beeswax candles that we had on the Christmas tree when I was a child. A warm, waxy scent that smells slightly of honey.
Successfully combined with the aroma of roasted almonds, neroli and orange, the fragrance radiates a deep, balsamic warmth that captivates me. Vanilla and cedar wood in the base complete this all-round feel-good fragrance.

For me, a magnificent fragrance that will hopefully attract a lot of attention.

From penetrating to dull - help!
A sentence with an X, that was probably nothing. I will give bitter almond a wide berth in future. Secret du Nil opens with an extremely unpleasant, very bitter synthetic and citrus note, which resonates with a hint of burnt plastic, and lingers for quite a while. You want to run away. With a sharp edge, the fragrance carries the bitterness before it until it mercifully dissolves at some point, leaving nothing behind except generic vanilla sugar musk fluff. What the hell was that?

Like the other Nectar Olfactif fragrances, this is supposed to be a honey scent, but I think the honey, along with the neroli, orange and almond, took off as soon as the sharp edge of bitterness turned the corner and was never seen again - the entire heart note is undetectable.
Judging by the other reviews, I'm the only one who feels this way so far - but I still recommend not buying Secret du Nil blindly.

Neroli honey
Last year I fell in love with neroli. I tested a few neroli fragrances and most of them are rather tangy and citrusy.
This is also the start of this fragrance. Green, tangy, tart - like lime zest.
The fresh start is followed by a very pretty nero note. You immediately notice that the fragrance does not remain tangy and fresh, but that it has a warm, almost cocoa-like base. This impression is probably due to the honey vanilla blend.

Honey and neroli combine to create a wonderful, modern interpretation. Never too fresh, never too sweet. The two notes really go extremely well together! At no point is the fragrance reminiscent of the classic 4711, instead it remains warm.

Definitely try it out!

Once again, I am very positively surprised by this brand. Thank you for letting me take part in the newsletter.

Oriental infusion with honey in the cedar wood sauna
for me, Secret du Nil is a real fragrance journey from a tangy, tart floral opening to a soft, powdery-sweet base that lingers on the skin for a long time.

The start really pops! A powerful, tart explosion of bergamot and neroli... fresh, citrusy, bitter, almost a little too exuberant. But then the fragrance becomes softer, sweeter. Honey and almond come into play, accompanied by slightly toasty nuances and juicy orange. This part really unfolds beautifully after a few hours, especially on the fragrance strip.

I find the fragrance slightly different on the skin. Here, the opening is less citrusy, but after about 20 minutes the subtly sweet, almondy warmth emerges, accompanied by a cool, slightly minty facet. Perhaps cedar? Or perhaps neroli? Or a secret, unlisted mint note? Regardless, it blends in wonderfully and makes me feel like I'm relaxing in a cedarwood sauna with a honey infusion.

And then the base, my personal highlight. After two to three hours, a radiant, light, honey-sweet vanilla-powdered sugar-musk cloud remains, clean and powdery at the same time. A finish that envelops you warmly without being too heavy. Despite the powdered sugar, the sweetness always remains mature and subtle.

For me, Secret du Nil is a fragrance with character: it starts loud, tart and fresh, then calms down on the skin and ends in a beautiful, soft, sugary-sweet harmony.
If you like fresh, sweet and powdery fragrances, you should definitely give it a chance.
