Spicy redcurrant compote
As soon as I open the small sample bottle, the scent of blackcurrants flies into my nose. When I apply it, I immediately smell blackcurrants and this note catapults me straight back to my grandmother's allotment. I am a child again, sitting in the currant bushes with my cousins. We snack on red and black berries, smearing the juice on our T-shirts. Interestingly, Negligé also advertises "Motherland" with similar associations on its homepage.
But back to the fragrance: after the slightly sweet blackcurrant opening, I notice cinnamon and cardamom, with subtle peppery notes. Every now and then, the sweetness of the berries rises again. Thanks to the spices, however, the sweetness is not overpowering or sticky. Over time, the currants recede and the spices take over. Occasionally I smell something herbaceous (coriander?), which fortunately remains in the background. I don't perceive the other notes as well, which may be due to my sparing dosage.
I think that "Motherland" can also be worn in the colder seasons. It is not really seasonal. A recommendation for fans of berry-spicy, slightly green fragrances.
