Petit Gâteau Odette Parfum Co. 2023

I truly wish I could eat this scent, it is a buttery, chantilly cream dream I would bathe in. I can't stop smelling my wrist! Also noting that it is not alcoholic/synthetic smelling at all (sometimes gourmand vanilla can smell super synthetic to my nose). It is truly a work of art and for the price, sooo worth it! Very safe blind buy if you like gourmands and edible scents, the notes are very accurate too.*

It smells very marzipan-heavy on my skin, kind of like playdoh at first which I wasn’t jazzed about, but it turned into something sweeter and more edible as it developed. After a few minutes it becomes buttercream-y and delicate, though in my opinion it smells more like frangipane filling than an actual cake. The dry down is a smooth gourmand vanilla that sits close to the skin and feels warm and comforting without becoming overly sugary. It wears really beautifully on my girlfriend, so soft and cozy.

imagine you're admiring a fresh-baked almond pastry through its glass case in a cute patisserie. it looks scrumptious, but you leave empty-handed...and you end up thinking about it for the rest of the day. that's what PG smells like. it's very almondy, very cakey, with a slight hint of something vanilla-sweet at the end. I can pick up on something bitter/burnt but not unpleasant, like toasted sugar or something. it's a delicious scent, but it stays very close to the skin and doesn't last (on me) longer than 3 hours. that's not a bad thing, per se, but for the price I'm not as willing to reapply/overspray. overall, I like it, but I'm not sure I'll repurchase if/when I run out.

Petit Gâteau, which is I believe Italian for 'Cat Comb', is one of those perfect gourmand fragrances that smell like you could just dip a spoon in the bottle and enjoy a mouthful. If you had a small enough spoon, anyway, because I was just trying a sample of this in one of the tiny vials. I want a proper one though.

It's genuinely gorgeous! An initial blast of marzipan that dries down quite quickly to this cozy vanilla buttercream scent, that I found myself absolutely loving. I kept saying 'smell me, I'm a cake'. I say that sort of thing a lot, to be fair, but this time it wasn't a non sequitur. Finally.

That said, it is one that I think you'd need to prompt people to get a whiff of, as the sillage was very intimate. I like that! I don't want to draw too much more attention in a room than I already do, so a fragrance that's just a little bonus for my partners when they lean in for a kiss? That's my jam.

Speaking of jam, I wonder if this would be nice paired with another, fruitier gourmand or if it'd just be subsumed by it. The sillage is low, and according to other reviews the longevity is too, though on my skin it's still going strong the day after. I'm still a cake, just not quite as big as when I first sprayed it. Like some sort of... little cake? Why didn't they call the fragrance that

I knew going in this is not something I would purchase or wear as I’m not really into straight gourmands, but I wanted to test it anyway, just to see.
