Low Key Glamour

Libertine Sweet Grass is a scent that ticks all my boxes and tickles all my fancies and I am not trying to sound like some sort of horny perverse gremlin about it, but those are the phrases that best describe how perfect I find this particular combination of notes. It’s a dusty honey, dried tobacco, and a sort of balsamic oakmossy ambery situation that all smells very much like something glamorous trying to play it lowkey. Like Sofia Loren in a farmgirl apron napping in a hayloft in the heat of a late summer afternoon. Sure, that’s a threadbare gingham dress she's wearing and there’s chicken feed in her hair but come on, you can’t pretend that’s not Sofia Loren. And that’s a bit how this fragrance makes me feel, both uncomplicated and easy-breezy, but utterly beguiling and drop-dead gorgeous at once. And actually…now that I think about it, shouldn’t that be the criteria we use when looking for a fragrance? Something that feels so simple to slip into and yet yields an incredible wow factor? That’s what Sweet Grass does for me.

Deep in the Grass

Sweet Grass starts deeply spicy and herbaceous. Climbs through the nose into the head and forces a smile. Yes, this one is well noticed. The ethereal green aura takes me completely off guard.

The rosemary is somehow directly related to camomile and mint. Radiates completely through the first four hours of composition.

Then light tobacco and blonde woods become more dominant and rounding off wonderfully.

Short: I haven't smelled anything like this in a long time.

Herbaceous, without wanting to be too much the herb witch.
Green, without having to sink half the meadow into the bottle.
Sensual, without musk - just out of the hay.
Unsweet, because vanilla and tonka are also simply used to grind hard edges and not to make a gourmand out of the scent.

Sweet Grass is ethereal, spicy and herbaceous and deeply sensual.

Sweet Grass - Vibes

Bundles of fresh and dried lavender. Knee high grass, just starting to yellow. Wearing dabs of vanilla extract behind your ears. An old truck that your dad drives sometimes, windows down and a sweet cigar between his lips. Hay particles that scatter when the barn door is opened. Dusk, mid-summer.

I will own a full size of this one day. A favorite from my collection of samples.

Truly Gorgeous

For me the Tonka, Hay, Mimosa, and Lavender are the softest bed of grass imaginable, with just a touch of dark tobacco tinged with oakmoss, and flavored with a touch of rosemary. This is truly a gorgeous composition, a golden afternoon personified. This fragrance will always have a space in my collection. If it has no fans, pour it on my grave.

an Arcadian portrait of home

A delicate, dreamlike memory of a late summer field captured through 35mm expired film. Refracted sunlight glinting like crystal onto softly sweet bed of golden hay and lavender. It’s late in the afternoon and you have to go home but you would rather lay here forever, gently swayed by the tide of the breeze.

Hay with a menthol-like green finish: gentle like chamomile flowers, almost medicinal, a delicate honey-like sweetness, a subtle tar note grounds it. Strong.
