Royal fig
I didn't know this perfume house before and the sample of the fragrance fell into my hands by chance. That's why I'm so happy that I've now found out about the existence of this fragrance!
I love fig perfumes and more or less collect them. I love to own different creations of this note, compare them and wear them as I please. That's why I was very curious about the name Amber & Fig, because amber is also one of my favorite notes.
In the opening, I smell a green, fresh, slightly creamy fig, similar to Philosykos. I smell creamy leafy green. I do not perceive any citrus notes. This is followed by a creamy and lactonic warmth with a slight sweetness from amber, framed by the green fig. At some point, this then fades completely into the background and sweet amber crystallizes more with warm sandalwood. The base is melt-in-your-mouth! I perceive boozy notes, even a bit of the crust of crème brulée. Smells to me like the lobby of a luxurious hotel or a spa. Somehow the drydown reminds me of something, I can't recognize it. In any case, it's something nostalgic. This special combination of amber and sandalwood in the base is amazing!
Well, fig and amber - my favorite actors combined together in one wonderful piece, I'm euphoric! I love everything about this fragrance!
I am very curious about the other perfumes from this house.

Big surprise
I became aware of and curious about Sylvaine Delacourte at the latest since Sommelierduparfum. I quickly ordered the Discovery Set and began my journey of discovery with Oranzo.
Let's get something out of the way, what a progression!
The fragrance opens with lots of citrusy fruits and soft jasmine. I don't really like jasmine in fragrances and I'm not really a fan of floral fragrances in general, but the mixture of juicy, tangy citrus fruits, not too sweet and delicious orange blossom and fresh jasmine here somehow totally impressed me. The scent catapults me mentally back to my last vacation.
I am in Ischia. After a long and lazy day at the beach, I've got ready to go out and am ready for a nice dinner in the old town. The sun is slowly setting, you can hear the chirping of cicadas everywhere and the locals are getting quieter in the evening. The beach promenade towards the old town is once again bustling with life and laughter. I'm wearing a long dress, my hair tied back, my skin warm and caressed by the sun.... I'm wearing that delicious neroli, orange blossom and jasmine scent.
Oh how beautiful!
But back to Oranzo: it makes a surprising turnaround as it progresses. The jasmine note slowly leaves the stage until it has completely disappeared behind the scenes, the orange blossom now also withdraws and the performance belongs to the leafy green, the petitgrain, the mood becomes green and herbaceous. Reminds me a little of Diptyque's Eau de Lierre. I am glad that the jasmine is not overpowering and gives way to citrus and freshness. An initially citrusy-floral fragrance with a green, herbaceous base.
Very interesting ! It put me in a good mood, inspired me and put me in a good mood. I will definitely make a note of it!

Pure synthetic
I think that the whole Shot collection from Olfactive Studio is very synthetic, boring and somehow unnecessary. As an Iris fan, I was very curious about Iris Shot, but was immediately disappointed. The scent is extremely synthetic for my taste, sticky sweet, the iris and almond are almost indistinguishable, overshadowed by this extreme synthetic sharpness. Covered with powder. A headache candidate for me!
The fragrance reminds me of BDK Velvet Tonka, but only a little. Although I find the latter more pleasant.

Love at the 3rd whiff
Animalique was not a love at first sniff. The very first time I encountered the fragrance, I didn't notice any of the notes mentioned at all, just leather-leather-leather-leather and was disappointed. The second time I tried it, the citric accords came out shyly, but one after the other, and the third time I noticed this delicious warm, sweet, ambery, soothing base, which I really liked in combination with the leather! I wore the fragrance several more times after that and at some point my decision was made: sooner or later you're moving in with me!
It's not a masterpiece, well, leather with a warm ambery base, Byredo hasn't produced anything extraordinary here. But if you like warm, rather linear and clear leather fragrances, you could give Animalique a try. And maybe it will be Love at first sniff!

Molecular fragrance
Interestingly, I don't smell anything clean or pure á la white T-shirt or similar, nor roasted sesame, nothing like that, but a very strong ambroxan note, which unfortunately gives me a headache. I can't even stand the scent on my wrist. I was very surprised because I thought I would like it from the notes.
But this shows once again how different tastes, sensations and perceptions are! L'Eau Papier reminds me very much of Bulgari's Omnia Amethyste! I liked wearing it many years ago and, surprisingly, I could stand it!
I guess I just don't like molecular fragrances anymore. By the way, the DD of BDK 312 Saint-Honoré also reminds me of L'Eau Papier.
