Wummser or not Wummser, that is the question.
The first breath after a careful spray catapults me back to the eighties. Ok, I was actually too young for anything other than "My Melody Flowers," but already in my twenties, I had a love for the good old 80s Wummser, and that hasn't really changed to this day. So, of course, I couldn't avoid Scaasi.
Ylang Ylang, musk, civet, and co. were practically calling my name.
The first impression is definitely wummsy, and that lingers a bit. Slowly, however, more floral notes come to the forefront, and they are quite unsweet. Civet is present, there's no denying that, and it's actually desired (at least by me and on my skin), but it's somewhat restrained.
Tuberose kills the vanilla for my nose, making Scaasi a floral oriental. Can you even call it that? Many florientals are often more oriental; Scaasi is just not. So it doesn't just play in one league and is not only 80s but also floral and animalic without making you feel like cat pee is bringing tears to your eyes or prompting my girls to flee. Of course, like many fragrances of this kind, it has really good longevity. It does need a bit of space and patience. Appropriately dosed and for the right occasion, it is a truly beautiful scent. Apparently, it’s a rather unknown underestimated gem. At least for the fearless, bold civet lovers among us. Please be a bit lenient; I usually shy away from comments and can't describe individual flowers, fruits, and notes very well, but since there was absolutely nothing about this fragrance yet and it certainly has a right to exist, I threw my fears overboard and tried to give it a voice.
