Is the hype justified?
Due to the positive reviews on YouTube and here, I ordered the Oud maracuja and the Oud stallion from the souk full of anticipation. Fast delivery and I'm looking forward to wearing the fragrance the same evening.
First of all, I've only smelled oud fragrances like Widian - London or Xerjoff - Alexandria II and otherwise haven't had much to do with oud. I find these fragrances outstanding.
So a spray in the air: I am immediately surrounded by pure animalism, as I imagine oud to be, and I have to say that it really repelled me.
So again on the skin; maybe it will give me a different scent.
But no, I only smell this pungent animalic scent.
So I wait a day and try it on my skin again.
And indeed, now I smell the partly sour maracuja. But the oud is present again. I wait and wait for the subsequent fragrance, which is supposed to be so smooth according to other reviews
But nothing changes. The oud remains very present and repels me, so I really have to wash the fragrance off.
I honestly don't understand the hype, but I can guess why oud lovers might appreciate this fragrance.
All in all, very disappointed. H/S very good, can still be smelled even after washing off.

My first niche fragrance/first review
In the meantime, I've smelled quite a few niche fragrances at home or as bottlings. A few years ago, I bought this perfume as my first high-priced fragrance. I was overwhelmed with conviction from the very first moment.
Sometimes I don't use Widian London for weeks at a time. But every time I wear it again, I think to myself that it's probably the best fragrance I've ever smelled.
As soon as I spray it on, the fragrance opens wonderfully and is simply breathtaking.
Raspberry at first, then later woody and leathery. It has a very high-quality and sophisticated feel. For me, this fragrance is the epitome of masculinity, although I can also imagine it on a woman.
The perfect fragrance to stand out. The longevity and sillage are outstanding, I have never experienced this before without the fragrance becoming overpowering. 2 sprays are enough for the fragrance to be noticeable on clothing for days.
I sometimes wonder why the fragrance has or had no "hype", as it is not really mentioned by the perfume youtubers I know. But the rating here on Parfumo speaks for itself.
If not for this perfume, which one should I write my first review for?
