14' Christmas
It was 2014, my family and I were looking to spend the Eve of Christmas in our favourite Italian restaurant within my city. The cold air made our breathes observable and the feeling of joy accompanied by the smell of rough yet pleasant and recognisable nutmeg-y spice hit me once I stepped into the eatery. I ordered the usual however when it came to desert, I noticed a 'cherry' remix of the classical sundae. I couldn't help but resist trying my luck with the description: 'vanilla ice cream sundae topped with cinnamon syrup and sweet cherries'. The unique combination tasted just fine... but the smell was so memorable and nostalgic!

This aroma accompanied with the nutmeg-y spice scent is EXACTLY what I can describe to somebody who has never smelt Le Male Essence. The cardamom along with this somehow juicy leather accord make the OG Le Male more masculine and outgoing/bold. The blend with both of these additional notes leads for me to detect a makeshift dry and dense cherry note.

Although my bottle is a silver head, I can assume that the (g)older batches are probably even DENSER and RICHER in smell.

Eau De Cola
I purchased a sample set from Mancera last Christmas and noticed I haven't fully analysed Tonka Cola with barely any liquid missing. With nothing else to do, I pulled out a tester strip and got to spraying...

Throughout this fragrance I detect a tarty lemon accord which start off harsh yet overtime begins to compliment other notes, giving way to a spicy yet fresh citrus background. The Cola note is strange to me, it is the strongest within the fragrance yet is also the softest, it doesn't scream or punch-you-in-the-face however is very evident/present. The dry-down is a fizzy tonka-bean base with hints of that citrus and a slight earthiness from the patchouli.

The fragrance lasted for roughly 8 hours with 2 hours of strong projection and my friend stated a smell of 'vanilla coke', which was a limited edition flavour he used to enjoy from Coca-Cola.

Would I purchase?: Probably.

Smells Amazing, if you can…
…smell it!

I managed to find this fragrance 50% off at my local rack store and decided why not, I vaguely remembered the scent however just noted citrus and a tart fruit note (would later be fig).

The opening is a sharp, almost dirty citrus, I identify grapefruit and lemon straight away. I have read that this phase was almost too sharp and almost impossible to handle for some however I stuck through.

The mid notes get fruity yet not sweet but rather tart and dry. This was my first time experiencing a fig-prominent fragrance (besides Gris Charnel briefly) and wasn’t unpleasant yet enjoyable. It did not bother me and the dry-down was a dry and ambery cedar base.

I was happy with the purchase however the longevity rumours are true, 3-4 hours on my skin before it fades off. I now enjoy the fig accord however time to time get a strong whiff of garlic?? Probably just my nose playing tricks on me.

A full course meal.
Managed to stumble upon this brand after reading some intriguing and marvellous reviews so I had high hopes...

Upon, first spray... my nose is hit with a somewhat sweet and boozy mixture of raspberry-strawberry mixture, rum and an unusually non-tropical green mango that is reminiscent of a cocktail drink. This phase alone blew my mind as for an opening I was shocked!

The mid notes get somewhat familiar, almost similar to that of Fan Your Flames - Nishane however even more resinous and syrupy (probably the beeswax). The opening begins to wear off yet fruity nuances can still be detected all throughout the duration of Or Du Sérail.

The dry-down became this gourmand spicy vanilla that had this tea like effect. At this point, I couldn't even remember what the opening was like because of how brilliant every aspect of the fragrance was that I had to respray it! I specifically the dry-down being VERY 'cakey' and dense.

From smelling like a cocktail in the opening, a coconut-y honey mixture all the way to a spicy, cake. It felt like eating a highly-critiqued meal at a 5 star restaurant! This is a must smell no matter your liking, just be prepared for the first spray

Despite The Night,
... I found this fragrance's dry-down to be somewhat addictive!

At first spray/smell of the cap, A distinct smell of barnyard is present that is disgusting yet mesmerising. I allowed my friend to smell the tester cap and he instantly gagged with the heavy Turkish rose - Indian Oud combination.

I noticed little to no difference in the mid however the dry-down is something to talk about.

This resinous almost incomprehensible smell was left, being very addictive and unique. The frankincense made the oud more calm and bearable allowing for me to get a better analysis of the smell.

Not for the faint-hearted but definitely to be smelled!
