The snake-oil note

First of all, I write these blogs for fun. Not to bash anyone or anything. Just to have some conversation. My nose isn't your nose and I'm well aware that my nose is a bit broken sometimes heh heh. What I wanted to talk about are the perfumes of Escentric Molecules. They're around for some time now but only recently have I discovered that they're getting a very positive covering on the socials. I've received 01 to 05 now from a friend and I've tested most of them.
The ritual goes like this. Spray it on. Smell nothing. But you're supposed to smell something alluring, something sexy. Or no, not really smell it. Rather "experience" it. It has so many purposes too. You can boost your regular fragrances, you can round them where-ever they're too sharp. But always under the radar. It reminds me of something.

You see, I have an other great hobby. I consider myself an audiophile. In this hobby, people splash out real big bucks for tiny enhancements in their audio equipment. Sometimes they do make a difference, but sometimes it's all in the head. A fun example of this, are certain types of salty rocks that you can place on your equipment, just so they slurp up all of the radiation that's in your house. If you believe in it, then you really can hear the difference even if science says something else.

Anyway, we have a word for that: snake-oil. I'm really beginning to wonder if that's also a thing in perfume-land. Do you know the fragrances of Escentric Molecules? What do they do for you? Hypothetically, can they just boost your self-confidence, and make you sexy just because of that? I really appreciate what the perfumers are doing here, to make you think and to make you experiment. What are your thoughts on this? Please discuss.
